As we did not sign anyone in the last day of the transfer window .And now the loan window is open .Does anyone know if the club is now Embargo free or not . And has the clubs books now been submitted as I thought that was the sticking point with the Embargo . And surly the players who were owed money have now been paid off with all the money brought in by the cup run surly the silly amount owed to these player was met .

We were trying to sign someone on transfer day but Wigan said no.

Part of the embargo, if not the main cause at the end was the accounts not being filed, which has been done now.

We will never get a definitive answer but it certainly looks like we are out of embargo and cant see why we would have gone into another one at the moment.

I never quite understood why PB continued chasing after Kiernan, when I thought it was clear a loan deal had been all but sorted for him between Wigan and Brentford...............anyway, that wasn't the point I wanted to make.
IF we had been able to bring Kiernan back, I'm pretty sure that would have been on a loan deal, thus not reflecting on the situation of the embargo.............i.e. just replacing Kiernan with Kiernan. If anything the lack of any signings, would seem to do more more to indicate that the embargo was still in place. If my maths is correct, (not my strongest subject) we still have the place for one more loan signing........let's say, to replace Woodrow, even with the embargo in place.

Hopefully, to replace him with another striker, now him (Woodrow) and Reid have both left...

If the embargo was lifted I would have thought the club would ensure it was announced publicly? This would make a national statement that our affairs were back on track as well as send a message to our supporters, other interested parties, including future players and agents. So I suspect it still operates, maybe waiting for final accounts approval. Shame that Ron has stopped communicating with the fans in any meaningful way. Also strange that if the embargo remains in place how come we have 24 players on the books. Njie and Pinnock out on loan, with O'Neill and Barnard loanees. I am also including Ted Smith here, so perhaps you could say we currently have 19 ? if you take away 5

I have taken up this point with Steve Kavanagh in the past and I am sure he feels that the more private the club's affairs remain the less damage is done to the club's reputation. I am sure the club do not like things like embargoes and unpaid tax and wages being made public.

Indeed, we might be out of an embargo but we may still be wrangling with creditors and staff etc... I doubt we'll ever get any public info on the finances, irrespective if it seems like good news.

Fair point Mc.N , and thanks for raising it in the past. I can see its a difficult balance but if we dont clarify a large chunk of the populace will still see us a a joke , umbongo outfit. Is this the public , marketting perception we really want? Also is there a risk that if the embargo has been lifted , the news would probably leak out anyway, via press hounds, the twitter , agents etc?

Truth is even the man on the moon will have heard this club is poorly run,Those in power have battened down the hatches in order to keep bad news in house.

The club still won't admit they were under embargo in the first place, they are hardly likely to draw attention to it by publicising it.

I guess the only way we will have an inkling is if we actually sign/loan new players over and above our current squad numbers.

According to PB in the EE today, we're still under Embargo....

Brilliant.

I was thinking about it as someone pointed out that we were in for Kiernan but he was only to fill his own place. That wasnt the case though as Barnard would have filled it, but Kiernan could have taken Reids.

I think our optimism over the past few weeks may have been a bit premature.

The embargo illustrates what a superb job Phil has achieved with the players.

Good work Phil and his staff.

or are we ron, erm I mean wrong...

Phil Brown talks to our YouTube channel

[h=3]Southend United manager Phil Brown with a message for supporters...[/h]There appears to have been a slight misunderstanding between myself and the Southend Echo in regards to my column in the paper today (Thursday).

I was quoted as saying that a transfer embargo surrounding the club has made it difficult to bring in faces for more competition throughout the squad.

I’d like to make it clear that the Chairman and board have been extremely supportive of myself, and that there is no transfer embargo in place.

In January, we were able to bring Bedsente Gomis, Luke O’Neill and Lee Barnard to the football club, who I am sure will all play a big part in helping us achieve what we want to this season – and that’s promotion.

We find ourselves in a very good position heading into the remaining games of the season. It’s going to be a big push, but every single player is working as hard as they possibly can to help us get into League 1.

I’d like to thank Southend fans for their continued support, and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Mansfield Town on Saturday as we look to pick up an important three points.
