Tilly in the market for a new keeper (now Collis has gone); a left-back (he doesnt think Mulgrew will stay) and a striker (Foran and Harrold expected to leave)

No names mentioned as yet...

I hope the lack of a mention of a right winger, a centre half and competition for Gower is just an oversight. Oh and a replacement for Maher. And to be honest we need 2 left backs as Che has gone...............

;)

Yea but barrett can play left back but agree surely a CB and right winger are essentials.

Yeah but take Barrett out of the centre back positions and we have nobody to play centre back unless he is finally going to give Zoltan a chance next season.

Oh and just remembered another one we need. Another right back to replace Lewis.

...

GK - Fact he is only looking for one suggests he is sure Flavs will sign which is good. But will we find a better number 2 than Collis?! Could be hard
LB - Presumably Herd will be the number 2 so he is looking for a number 1 LB! Mulgrew would be ideal but sounds like there may be better offers on the table!!!
RB - After Francis who can play RB?! Surely we need cover here! And again is there a better backup right back out there than Lewis Hunt?!
CB - The fact that he isn't looking here suggests 2 things. 1) Peter Clarke is going nowhere and 2) Zoltan is pushing for an invlovement. Not sure where everyone thinks this "commanding CB" is coming from?!?
LM - Not looking here so this also sugggests he feel Gower will sign on which I feel is very good news! But who is his competition?!
RM - No mention here so is Scannell considered our right wing option!?! Again who is the backup tho?!
CM - Must be happy with Macca, Bailey and the Moose! I am too... And this suggests Bailey will be staying put!!!
ST - Happy to see Foran and Harrold depart and that will leave us with Barnard, Walker, Charlie, Revell, Hooper... surely numbers wise that would be enough?! So if we are signing a new one surely 1 of those could well be off??? Personally I think we need a new striker - but as always we have too many of them as it is!!!

Just my thoughts :)

Johny Herd at left back? Why the feck does Tilly still go on about needing a striker?
Even with Harrold and Foran going (a foregone conclusion according to the Echo), we still have four to mix and match with.
I feel we need to recruit for all back four positions, whether its first team or reserve.
right wing, although I suspect Scannell will be first choice next season, Revell will be our reserve
on left wing, we need either a gower replacement or someone to challenge.
Goalkeeper?, unless we got someone lined up like a´Sullivan' @ Donny, then stick with the two we have.

It's clear we need 1 LB, 1 RB/CB/MC Versatility man, 1 Commanding CB, 1 GK, 1/2 Wingers and a Striker.

If I was Tilson i'd be going hell for leather to get Mulgrew... He's openly stated he enjoyed his time here, Wolves don't want him and although a move back to Scotland may be tempting, we can offer him the potential of CCC Football . Sign Grant, he's versatile, young, determined and Mourinho/Ranieri were full of praise for him.

The Centre Back is a tough call, possibly the one from Cambridge who we've chased in the past?

If Gower leaves we'll need 2 wingers, if Scannell looks fair cop after a full pre-season, which I think he will, then enquire about Kanu on a season loan next year and we'll be a very good side on the width next year. If possible, go for Simon Hackney... If memory serves me right he's a London boy having started at West Ham and he's a great player at this level.

Striker wise, Andy Cole could fit the bill. We have pace, we have aerial ability and we have a clinical forward who'll score goals... what we lack is the intelligence and positioning that comes from experience. Goater unlocked Eastwood into a phenomenal player at this level, Cole could unlock Barnard/Walker into great players.

I suspect Masters will be loaned out again next season, hence our need for a new Collis.

Need experience, whoever it is we get in. Spinner and Sodje were vital, having been there and got the t shirt so to speak. Maybe Jamie Clapham whos been released for left back? Geoff Horsfield for a striker? Hoult would be a good goalie signing too.

His name was mentioned the other day, Dom Matteo, but he was thought to be too injury prone. He was at the game on sunday and he said he was fighting fit. He may not make 50 games but he would be great cover and a fantastic character in the dressing room and an experinced head.

Thats left back sorted, oh and no i am not his agent :whistling:

Cant see him wanting to move south at this late stage is his career.....

There's never any names mentioned when it comes to Southend's transfer targets, hopefully we'll have a few fairly big names and recognised players on our list.
