Post-Match Thread and Ratings Ebbsfleet 0-4 Southend United

A good win but let’s not go overboard. Ebbsfleet are shocking and we’ve beaten them twice 4-0. Glad Kendall got the start and scored a good goal. First half we seemed to labour a bit but when we got in the front foot we looked dangerous and were unlucky not to score at least one more before HT. Second half looked like being one of those games where we just couldn’t get that second and to his credit Cousins in goal played well and made a great save from Coker. Coker eventually got his goal from a Bridge assist. Bonne came on with Walker and combined for the third with Leon coming on to set up Walker for the 4th. In the end a comfortable win and with results going our way it’s still in our hands but a win vs Wealdstone is a must.

Mom for me was Coker who had his best game in some time

1640 Shrimpers made good noise especially those of us near the drum. We adopted a Sunderland fan for the day who we met on the train who chose our game to go to as he lives down south. He loved it and may go back home for the weekend and come to the Gateshead game. Certainly a luckier omen than the American lad

So onto Saturday a huge game

Such a better place without them.
Even those of us who are Maher out can appreciate a win. If everyone is being honest it was almost a walk in the park today against a team who have almost conceded 100 goals in the league and are probably the worse team I have ever seen at this level. On the other hand I think Wealdstone could be a hugely difficult game and then if we can win both of those and get the play offs we will have a number of much harder games.

Let’s enjoy today’s win and hope we can follow it up with two more wins to get us in the playoffs. Don’t let today’s game cover over the legitimate issues fans do have though with the style of play, tactics, poor subs etc. Hopefully the result today gives the players a good boost though.

Those highlights at #87 are remarkable because we look very speedy and direct. It has not been like that on many occasions this season. It probably demonstrates how poor were Fleet. We cut through their midfield with ease. Bridge had the right sided defender on toast. It will not be so easy in the next two matches. Great for the travelling faithful to see something worthwhile to cheer. Wonderful support.
I think you'll find that, according to many strangely muted voices this evening, the opposition quality or tactics have nothing whatsoever to do with how we play. It is entirely down to Maher who tells them not to shoot, not to pass forwards, to slow it down to a crawl and basically just keep possession regardless of what we do with it.

I can only assume that today's blip was down to either Maher losing his voice or the wind dissipating his words into the air before his negative instructions reached the players ears.

Ah - the Sunderland fan was in the row below me in front of the crash barrier. He led a few of the songs, the bonny lad.

Only 6 pages so far, would have been 16 if we hadn't won!

So the rollercoaster ride continues, hopefully still on an upward trajectory. Watching on DAZN was comfortable ish once the second goal went in. I'm sure we were 1-0 up last season here only to be denied and with some good chances going begging I could see the same happening again. We were so on top in reality I needn't have worried, I think Hayes had nothing to do apart from two clearing punches and the only danger seemed to be a defensive '**** up' but thankfully they were few and far between.

I thought Bridge was tenacious and worked hard getting his reward with an assist, KAF, Coker also did well as did the much maligned Husin - even when he gave the ball away needlessly he chased back and won it back.

On the subs, it was good that Bonne and Walker got on and got their goals. I felt Charley could have come off a little earlier - he's not played much recently and I said on OMT that LCP should have had at least 15 (maybe more) minutes before he eventually got on. Good to see Wind get on too.

I saw a bit of an aggressive exchange of views mate .. near where you were. Did you see that/hear what it was about? Hate seeing Southend fans turning on each other.

What a nonsense comment trying to provike. I'm here and I certainly am not changing my mind just because of today against one of the worst teams we have ever played. We did not look like we have another gear and we will need that. Hopefully Kev can do the impossible and win several matches in a row, then I may start to change my mind
Actually, wasn't trying to 'provike' just hoping to raise a laugh.
Am neutral on managers, but have to say the bile dished Kev's way ANY occasion we lose or draw is absurd.
BTW, how many matches in a row?

Playing on the front foot like Kendall Kaf and Bridge did today provide dividends in attacking play and the subs of Bonne Walker and LP also was instrumental in getting the victory and 4 goals.Yes Ebbsfleet offered very little in threatening our goal but recent games of late we have failed to break teams down so today was a very welcome result.
Wealdstone need points to survive so next weeks fixture won't be easy but play like we did today we have ab excellent chance to progress

We were messing around with our chants and being negative but it was tongue in cheek. Whilst we were doing it we scored which made it all the more funny. Then this guy just confronted my mate. It was all fuss about nothing
