Eastwood to Wolves in the Sun...

The fact is we have to sell him and I should imagine the club are working their nuts off to get whatever they can for him. IF WE DONT SELL HIM NOW WE WILL LOSE HIM FOR NOTHING AT END OF SEASON. People saying 3 million etc etc is nonsense at this moment I would take 750k.

If we sell him now, we won't get promoted. People saying 750k etc is nonsense, at this moment I wouldn't take £3m.

Not going to pretend that the above is a fact though.

SZ is all about opinions,we differ on this one. Here comes the potentially patronising bit : as you are exiled seeing your few games each season probably makes you cherish each one but me being more local perhaps reveals alot more flaws seeing SUFC on a more regualr basis. I am trying to say we are at opposite extremes, you maybe too rose tinted from afar and me too close and super negative.

In my opinion, Che gets done by a decent winger every time (not many in League 1),is not CCC standard, did not stay in the Brentford or Rotherham teams, so why even think about keeping him?

Our forwards get near the box, but never shoot, more often than not turning to lay it off.Over and again, game after game. That's why I think they are terrible.

Perhaps being a slight distance enables me to keep things in better perspective? As I said in my first post I am not "Rose Tinted" and am perfectly prepared to voice my criticisms of the club, I just want to make sure that any criticism is fair and based on hard evidence.

Yes, I agree Che isn't a worldbeater, but time and time again people despair at the size of our squad - well, it won't get any bigger if we let utility players like Che walk away. We simply aren't going to be able to keep top players happy sitting on the bench - just ask Efe - so we have to be realistic about who we keep, Che has done a job for us before at this level, and I won't be too dismayed if we keep him for this season too. And Tilly refered to him as a top bloke - that to me suggests that Che has a positive influence on the squad, and as a team that has to rely on good team spirit to lift us above the common herd, we need all the positive vibes we can get.

As for our forwards never shooting, it was interesting to see what happened when Freddy limped off at Preston. It is surely a team tactics and coaching issue, not one of ability per se. I notice that Billy Paynter rediscovered his shooting boots at Bradford, for instance. And I know it is an old chestnut, and will bring howls of derision from those fans who delight in writing players off and letting them know it during games, but shooting is a confidence issue and the abuse that I have heard dished out when a shot goes wildly wide is enough, IMHO, to discourage players from speculative shooting. How much easier to pass the ball sideways or backwards....

I have no evidence, but find it strange they have not said they have offered a new contract, maybe they have.

Ron said a few times last season that he wanted Eastwood to sign a new contract and that he could earn as the same with us as he could anywhere else in the Championship. The fact that the club have never since formally come out and said that they've offered him a new contract says to me that Eastwood and/or his agents have made it very clear to the club that it wouldn't be worth the time and money of drawing one up.
