Eastwood post match interview

Freddy is very much commited to the club, yes he is disapointed there was no official bids for him, as like any football league player he wants to play in the Prem.

A friend of mine played snooker with him recently and Freddy wants to repay the opportunity that Southend gave him. He is proud to be a Southend player and wants to avoid relegation, he even stated that if nothing happended in the Summer he would be more than happy to still be at Roots Hall.

Anyone else notice how Freddy hardly ever celebrates when his team mates score, everyone else runs to the scorer and jumps on him while Fred just turns round and walks back to the centre circle on his own!

This was very noticable with Sodje's goal as I watched his reaction when the rest of the players were going mad!

NOT the actions of a team player who's heart is at the club:mad:

He has always done that!

I noticed that too, very strange  I would like to think it was more disappointment at not scoring himself rather him not feeling 'part of the team' enough to celebrate with the others. I suppose we'll just have to make up our own minds.

My view on Freddy... he is not like the normal romany chap, loud mouthed, or noisy, looking for a punch up etc, or like any other professional football player really, I have said hello to him in the **** Turpin, Wickford, hes always being polite and is a very quite person really n always is happy for you to take a picture or ask for his signature... even when hes half way though his meal.....

So dont look too much into it Boys n Girls the Blokes a Local SOUTHEND UNITED LEGEND :)

Am I missing something? Can't recall who came over after the Bradders goal but Freddy was definitely in shot congratulating Gower on his 2nd. And at Birmingham he ran to the corner flag to celebrate Maher's goal, while the team spirit was shown absolutely conclusively for the 3rd at Birmigham when ALL 10 OUTFIELD PLAYERS (Freddy included) ran into the corner to jump all over Gower in a huge huddle after his goal.

Sometimes when Freddy knows he hasn't played well (and personally save for a couple of flashes of Freddy brilliance I didn't think he played that well last night) he doesn't look too happy but that's because he's frustrated with his game at the time, nothing to do with his commitment. Freddy's been the same when he's been on a poor run of form or a goal drought before this season, he's always a lot happier when he's playing well. Where's the problem?

People should stop worrying about Freddy, we've been EXTREMELY lucky to have him. The first season he was here he helped us to promotion, the second season he was instrumental in helping us win L1 and it looks very much like his goals this season will help what is a very talented team pull off the Great Escape!! The best news for us is that while he's here he's invaluable to us and when he does finally leave this summer we'll have the consolation of a nice fat £3m+ cheque (with no Grays sell-on) to rebuild certain areas of the squad and push us on further with hopefully some quality acquisitions.

So stop moaning people and enjoy the lad while he's (thankfully!) still here!!!!

I noticed that when he was substituted he turned round and clapped the fans really enthusiastically and seemed really genuine. I think he is happy at Southend for now but if a big club comes in for him in the summer then who can blame him for wanting to go he deserves it after what he has done for this club!

I was feeling a very proud shrimper when Sky showed Tilly turning around to his players that had been substituted and shaking their hands and congratulating them. Freddy looked genuinely happy. That makes me happy!

The Charm

Good Luck to the lad, he's better than the rest of the squad, and was penned in by the interviewer, or so it seems. Of course he was surpirsed, so were we, and he's stated before he wants to test himself at the highest level, so lets forget this freddy talk its tiresome and its not even the transfer window!

Agreed. Freddy probably will be going in the summer if he keeps up his recent resurgence in form but that doesn't matter now. We still have him for another 4 or 5 months and in that time, I'm sure he'll be giving his all for this team, our team, just like the rest of the players on the field.

:D
