have I missed something? Is the implication that he has had a long term injury all along?

No you have missed nothing. There might be all sorts of implications but no facts other than he has pulled a calf in training and its taking longer to heal than expected.

But if more can be read into to it to kick off a whole debate complete with conspiracy theories you can safely assume thats what will happen...

If this was on BBC News it would be classed as bad news.

Anybody ??

As an aside i wouldn't go so far as Ayrshires conspiracy theory* but i've always been concerned that getting Freddy back would turn out a massive damp squid

IF true i'd rather he just **** off than play silly buggers like that

lets be honest, we all know freddy isnt what he used to be and dont get me wrong i want and cant wait to see him play soon, but britt and tomlin are doing well and too be honest are set up is ok. we can make a few games without him.

Not good news. Maybe freddy was so keen to sign for us because no one else wanted him. I pray that is not the case and he will be back in a few months scoring goals for fun.

No, this is an implication that Freddy wasn't a Sturrock signing and this is Sturrock playing hardball with the parties that did sign him until he gets paid his 2 months outstanding wages.

Sorry but IMHO that isn't at all believable, you think Freddy would stand for that? Sturrock's not stupid, Eastwood looked far and away our sharpest striker during the tail end of pre-season and also at Peterborough in the cup - there's no way PS is going to keep him out of the side and claim he's injured when he's not. He pulled a calf before the first league game, it happens - especially before the season has got into full swing.

Besides which Sturrock gave a very positive interview before he signed Freddy stating that any side at this level would love to sign a player of Eastwood's quality and that we would do our utmost to sign him. At the end of the day players get injured, yes it's hugely disappointing because he looked fitter and sharper during the tail end of pre-season than he ever did during his loan but he's no Barry Corr and he'll be back. Freddy must be as frustrated as anyone.

One thing's for sure though, he is injured. If he wasn't and Sturrock was lying about his calf problem then Freddy would come out and declare himself fit just as he did last season (even though at that stage he wasn't - if he's saying he's fit when he had a knee problem then he's sure as hell not going to say he's injured when he's fit is he!).

He's still too talented and too clever for this level, that much has been plain to see. Sturrock won't cut his nose off to spite his face.

Agreed, why would Freddy stand for not being played because PS is playing "hardball".

That conspiracy theory makes no sense.

I just don't get it.

Freddy wouldn't accept it.
The team wouldn't respect it.
The fans wouldn't understand it.
Ron Martin wouldn't stand for it.

Actually, when you look at it like that, there's probably some legs in it!

So we have Eastwood out and Corr out. I am a big fan of Corr's but if hid injuries continue then in January you really have to think about cancelling his contract (if possible) or letting him go next summer. Same with Eastwood as he was injured during his loan spell and was never really fully fit. I would want to keep them both as that would be my number 1 partnership out of our forwards but we cannot continue to keep paying players who are never going to play. I know its not as much Eastwood as it is Coor but we don't want Freddy being out for months and months.

The shame is that Eastwood was looking decent in pre-season but at least we're well covered for strikers and don't need to rush him back.

Is there any other sort?

Deep fried squid?

Whilst I agree we are well covered with strikers, Freddy has that ability to produce something out of nothing (or at least he hopefully still has!) which could decide finely balanced games, which our other strikers dont seem to. Certainly for me if he had been on the pitch against Accrington we wouldve won.

For god sake.

The club really need to look at how they are bringing players back from injury
Yes agree with that, I've said somewhere else, bring back Lawrence Bloom. Our squad was the strongest and fittest it had been for a while under him, even "Porcelain" Barney spent less time out injured. There has to be a problem with what they're doing, though, I'll tell you for nothing, if their diet consists of the kind of rubbish I was given when I went for lunch there in April, I'm not surprised they're not at their physical best!

Oh, his 'diet', if you can even call it that it terrible. Sturrock was telling us out in Spain that Freddy and Hall are a nightmare together for eating McDonalds, KFC etc....

Theres a lot of mention about our training, physios and rushing players back but the key fact is that we sign sicknotes. Eastwood has had a protracted injury record in recent seasons, Corr is a perennial absentee and even Phillips was more known for his injuries than his games. Hopefully the progress Phillips made will be contagious.

Agreed, if our physios are so bad why is it only affecting Corr and Eastwood.

No doubt we could do with a fitness specialist but think too much is being read into this.

We have to sign damaged goods. No one else will sign for us due to the way we have treated players in the past and the fact we cannot match wages of others.
