Found this on F365 -

"Fulham also hope to tie up a £1.5million deal for US striker Clint Dempsey, 23, after his work permit tribunal hearing was set for next week."

By my reckoning (if John goes), leaves Fulham with...

McBride, Helguson, Montella, Radzinski and Dempsey. I doubt they would want to spend another £2.5m on a striker...
rock.gif

I appreciate McBride is getting on, but I think they would go with McBride & Montella upfront with Helguson on the bench and probably Dempsey coming in from a wide position. No room for Freddy...

Pompey now looking more likely, but with the (supposed) cash Harry has available, wouldnt he be looking for a more established option...?

So lets get this right from southend4ever post freddy off to fulham tonight or tomorrow

According to there Offical Site they have accepted a bid from
a prem club for jc

They have sold Boa Morte to the hamsters for 5m with a hammer going to fulham Mr Etherington

Along with other signing the name escapes me they also are
waiting on Onyewu to agree terms

But lets not forget Freddy is still contracted to club i no that
does not count much these days but i feel that if Ron keeps
stating in the press Eastwood is not for sale his not for sale
unless like anything the price is right for the club

Lets hope this is last of the rumours his off to Fulham
Derby - Portsmouth and he is still here in February

honestly, if RM doesnt let a sell in this window, then he'l go for nothing at the end of the season. dont need to ask twice about which option i prefer out of the two

Theres a lot more humour on here this yearthan last, when everyone was sweating on promotion.

Maybe if we go down to the conference it will get even funnier

Dempsey isn't a striker, he typically plays as a winger.

Which you will note what else I wrote about Dempsey playing wide!!!

Still an attacking option though, negating the need to spend a further £2.5m

Dempsey isn't really the sort of player that would be a threat to keep Freddy out of the side if they did end up playing together, unless Fulham try to convert Dempsey which I doubt because he is too valuable at his current position. I suppose my point is that I don't think the Dempsey signing will have any impact whatsoever on Fulham's desire to pursue Freddy, but that's just my opinion.

All the noises are pretty strong at the moment. Bidding a lot of money, which I don't see us making prudently otherwise, is also a good indication that things will move soon. Tomorrow will be the biggest indicator though.

Personally I think it would be in the best interests of the club and the player for him to move on. This is the optimum time to maximise our profit whilst still in the Championship and maintaining our status is dependent on bringing in two or three players of good calibre, the purchase of which can only be financed through selling Eastwood.

He's proved everything he needs to now. A challenge at a higher level and new surroundings will be ideal, especially if he goes to Fulham as they will certainly stay up and he has a good chance of starting a lot of games.

Yup, this is my feeling now.

Whilst we all love Freddy, his form has been off for a few months and I think getting the money in and hopefully improving in other areas will be more beneficial than relying on one player to win us matches.

Freddy knows his future lies elsewhere and it will be best for everyone if he moves on asap with our best wishes.

Personally I hope he stays. If he goes we're going down. Does the poor form include the goals against Man U and Southampton?

This is interesting. If we believe Coleman then it doesn't look like Freddy will be going anywhere very soon.

Watford have gone for Will Hoskins from Rotherham for £1 million + so are unlikely to go in for another lower league striker at over £2 million.

Charlton have apparently agreed £2.7 million for Anthony Stokes from Arsenal as well as making a bid for Andy Cole.

And Freddy doesn't seem to be anywhere near top of Curbishley, Redknapp or O'Neill's shopping lists.

A little worrying really - may end up selling him for peanuts at the end of the window or carrying an unhappy player for the rest of the season with his price diminishing all the time.

Boa Morte has left Fulham for the Hamsters, so that leaves them with one less attacking option... Probably filled by Clint Dempsey because of his ability to play on the wing.

Fulham now have Helguson, McBride and Montella after Collins John leaves. Although Fulham have refuted the Eastwood talk and we say we've had no offers, Id still be extremely surprised if this wasn't Freddy's destination come the end of today, or next week at the latest.

Put like that though, Freddy will struggle to get a game at Fulham won't he?

I certainly wouldn't play him ahead of Montella (second highest Serie A scorer among active players) or McBride. A long time on the bench would beckon, although that may not necessarily be a bad thing, provided he's learning off his team-mates in training.
