Sorry to see him go.Would have been very useful to have kept him whilst we are sill in L2 but maybe not beyond. Model pro and a credit to himself. I wish him luck although he probably won't need it.

Best wishes to Craig (and his missus, Laura) wherever he ends up, model professional on and off the pitch.

I am really disappointed about this. Just having him on the team gave the midfield such a solid shape. I believe we are still in need of a player like him. Surely we could have come up with something to keep him.

Think we will be missed more as a embassador and as a gentleman more than as a player. Good Luck though.

If he has left the club then good luck to him! Not the best Midfielder I have ever seen but not the worst either, solid all round and a good captain. Will he be missed I.M.O.....No as we have a good enough Midfield to cope with anything in League 2 this season.

Well if he does indeed join Torquay he deserves a warm reception at the Hall next season. Good luck to him. Model professional and great leader.

Good interview from Givemefootball (GMF)

All the clubs are back in training for the start of the new season.
While there is speculation concerning which players will be going to which clubs there is still a lot of uncertainty for many players who are still trying to get fixed up with a club.
One such player is Craig Easton. GMF caught up with him...

Q. What happened to you at the end of the season?
A. My contract at Southend was up and they made me an offer which I turned down. The contract was on reduced terms and as I said I turned it down.
Q. What were you expecting from the club?
A. I was prepared to take a drop in money. I told them I would take a bit less but what they offered was a lot less and that they were working on a budget. I was the only player out of contract..
Q. Was there any room for negotiating?
A. It didn’t appear to me that was the case. The offer was made and that was that really, there was no negotiation. I signed a year’s contract last season even though I was offered a three year deal because I didn’t think the club were in a great position financially at the time
Q. Are you disappointed at what happened?
A. No, I understand the way football works. It is unfortunate that I played 38 games last season and I was very happy with the club and my family were settled. I was hoping that we would get into the play-offs but we didn’t quite make it and finished in mid-table.
Q. What are you doing now?
A. I am training with the club at the moment and that is keeping me in good shape. There are no hard feelings. I am ringing around a few clubs and there are a few things going on in the background so I will wait and see.
Q. So it is sitting by the phone time?
A. Yes it is. I am feeling very fit and ready to go so when someone comes in I am ready to start playing straightaway. It is an uncertain time but I am hopeful that something will come up.

Good luck to to the lad, a great character. But he is another one of the many hundreds, who will have to lower their demands and expectations, if they want a gig somewhere soon.

Interesting interview that. Seems like a good, honest bloke to be fair. Shame terms couldn't have been agreed with him. Wherever he goes he's gonna have to take a big cut in wages, thats lower league football these days.

Was thinking about Easton last night oddly enough. Kind of 'spared a thought' for him as the rest of the football world kicks off. I find it hard to believe that come August, real football men like Craig wouldn't be wanting to take almost anything to get back into the game, rather than be unemployed and missing the start of the season. Weird...Anyway, thoughts with Craig who was great for us last year, on and off the pitch and hope he gets fixed up soon.

Wonder if he's regretting holding off for the extra £200 or so quid. So far will have been over a month without wages - sometimes being settled is more important than a few quid. That said, I hope he gets something soon - a good bloke.
