All the best to Craig. But very good news about Barker being our new captain with Harris being vice great choice

Good luck to him, I hope he finds a decent club, a model professional in his time with us.

All the best Craig - thanks for the dedication to the cause over the past 12 months !

Same here, I am glad Barker is the right man to be the captain with Harris as vice captain, these players would be my choice to take Easton place. I wish him well.

Really nice to see support for Craig on here. He has been a model professional and captain in his time here, and I for on wish him all the best for the future.

The only remaining question is: Can Barker grow a captain's beard anywhere near as good as Easton's? We'll see!

Thanks Craig :loyalsupporter:

Harsh financial realities I am afraid.

Will it weaken the side - probably not.

Am I sad to see Craig leave - absolutely, he is a true pro who I only wish well for the future - and I know that he did not want to leave either

easton leaving means we will have ferdinand as our holding player in midfield and a host of attacking midfielders to pick from and will see us as a more attacking side and not so defensive as when easton plays, we will have more goals coming from midfield areas next season.

Couldn't agree more. I hope people remember this if he returns wearing another club's shirt and he gets the generous round of applause that he deserves.

As for the more important issue you raise, I'd like to see Paul Clark bought in for some specialist coaching in this regard.

The big question is, after the curse of the blog strikes again, who will be next to pick up the pen?

Blogs are passe. Barry Corr's tweeting is going to be this year's sensation.

As others have said Easton has been the model pro during his time here and an excellent captain that really seemed to help the new squad gel together, and a nice guy to boot. Thanks & good luck to him, I'm sure it won't be long before another lg2 team signs him up.

He'll definately get a warm round of applause from me if he comes back to Roots Hall with another team.

Shame to see Craig go and I too wish him all the best. He was great chatting to my 9 year old at the players signing day in the shop last year, a great ambassador for the club on and off the pitch. Pleased to see Chris Barker get the captain's armband though :)

Gutted to see him leave really, because I really rate him, always have done!
Thanks a lot Craig for being brave enough to come and help us consolidate, decent blog aswell! Leader!

Good captain on and off the pitch last season but by no means irreplaceable. Thanks for the one season and all the best.

I believe he warrented a 2 yr deal, I think he would be warming the bench mostly which is why he had reduced offer; BUT, he was reliable always & at Ox U away was excellant. And as others have said he is a right nice bloke too.

Apparently he was offered a two year deal originally. ..he turned it down opting for a one year deal instead,
