I felt sorry for Eagle, who I believe barely put a foot wrong all season. Overall I think he's the more consistant defender of the two, and indeed of the four main centre-backs we've played with all season. Spinner still has the occasional blinder of a game (best player on the pitch agaisnt Rotherham, imo) but he always look one second away from doing something stupid and costing us a goal. His suicidal handling of McLeod in the FA Cup match against MK Dons stands out as the single worst piece of defending I've seen from a Southend player this season, for example.
But Tilly obviously still rates Spinner and thats good enough for me. He's a massive presence at the back for us and offers more from set-pieces than Eagle does.
