Eagle or Spinner?

I felt sorry for Eagle, who I believe barely put a foot wrong all season. Overall I think he's the more consistant defender of the two, and indeed of the four main centre-backs we've played with all season. Spinner still has the occasional blinder of a game (best player on the pitch agaisnt Rotherham, imo) but he always look one second away from doing something stupid and costing us a goal. His suicidal handling of McLeod in the FA Cup match against MK Dons stands out as the single worst piece of defending I've seen from a Southend player this season, for example.

But Tilly obviously still rates Spinner and thats good enough for me. He's a massive presence at the back for us and offers more from set-pieces than Eagle does.

What I want to know is how a city lawyer like Matt the Shrimp who no doubt has annual chargeable time recording targets and fee income targets manages to spend so much time posting on this site and the rivals site. Tis a mystery!

Personally I am an Eagle man as I think Prior is cumberson and to prone to error. I also think he thinks he's Rio sometimes running it out of defence where as Eagle is a lot more sensible and safe which for a defender I like.

Much as I can (almost) never relate to Wiggy's frame of reference, much as I'm frustrated by his penchant for delivering opinion as fact and much as I find his failure to enter into constructive debate hugely irritating, he certainly livens up the place.

In his own way, I'm sure he's as frustrated by us as we are by him.

Spinner for his experience. If he had gone to Grays, they would be on top of the league!!

Prior over Edwards every time. I think Spinner is a better organiser & talker, and probably still more mobile than Eagle.

Also Eagle has not always figured in Grays 1st team.

I think individually Eagle is a better defender but Spinner seems to fit in better to the whole back four, is a good communicator and a better leader.

Spinner for me, but as I posted earlier in the year, Eagle has been very unlucky in his second spell at the Hall, as he was brought in to play alongside AB, and the signing of Prior scuppered that...
