Drugs at Football

It was an away fan, but I'm sure there's quite a few of our fans on it, especially 17-24 year old age group. Cocaine has gotten well out of hand the last decade or more in our society. I'm told some of the City club and disco attendees nowadays, are back and forth to the toilets to have a line or two, over and over. So it seems just part of someone's night out nowadays. I've gone to the toilet in a local pub recently, I won't mention the name, and three young guys were openly sniffing a line each off a large mobile phone, as I was washing my hands. They didn't care anyone saw, as if it was normal.
Least I had the decency to hide my transgressions back in the day.

The new SUFC book coming out I have a story in it I wrote about this kinda thing, destroys lives destroyes families and almost destroyed me.

Well said. And where does all the money filter back to? Organised crime and murderous South American drug cartels.

I don’t mean this as any kind of insult but there are few things more pathetic than middle aged men bragging to the world that they do a bit of gear.

Their wife and kids would probably prefer a night out at a restaurant or the cinema.

Teenage years and early twenties are the time to mess about with drugs. Not when you look like Thomas Skinner.

Do you see me bragging?
Far from bragging, it’s totally embarrassing in my case, it’s a warning, if could go back change things I would, and if that experience and result I had can stop just one young lad ruining their life and getting caught in the same spiral then that makes me happy.
Thankfully that world is behind me.
It’s easy for those to mock who have not been there.

I wasn’t accusing you of bragging or mocking you.

My bad, sore subject really just pains me to see young lads at football repeat the same mistakes and what they are doing to their health
I've never done drugs in my life, but sure, I've made mistakes like everyone. There are those that pretend to stay perfect, and others that own their downfalls. Everyone deserves a second chance, or there would be no hope, and It's the latter that can make a difference to others with the same temptations. Well done Scott for coming through the other side, not everyone does.

I know they say some people only learn from their mistakes, sadly it can be too late by then.

I worked for banks and brokers in the City from ‘83 until I moved out here. Despite being a regular on the corporate and social pub and club circuit the entire drug culture passed me by. Looking back I must have been blissfully unaware of things that were going on right in front of my eyes. Admittedly I’ve never been to a rave or concert. Only once did I ever go to a party where again knowingly) drugs were present.

I’m actually much more drug aware in HK where, despite illegality, they’re pretty much openly offered on the street in Wan Chai bar district, typically sold by Africans working on behalf of triad gangs. Police HQ is a quarter of a mile away and they clearly know it goes on. I was actually alerted by a local work colleague on my first ever business trip to HK back in 98 on the dangers of drink spiking and fleecing of tourists, which still goes on today and again some of the bars are suspected of being complicit.

Only once have I ever smoked weed which left me feeling meh, ok, what’s all the fuss about? I do have two cousins that are psychotic as a result of cannabis which probably clouds my views.

Drugs? Nah not for me HOWEVER if that’s what other people get by on then so be it, as long as it doesn’t affect those around them. Drugs at football matches is an altogether different matter.

Just for you Scott :-)

Personally, pre-match. I need 5 five lines and at least 10 pints beer to watch my beloved Southend United play, honest . :Whistling:

never had any problem with weed but thats as far as i went , Now living in the Philippines where there is a death penalty for drugs i dont touch it ,yet it still goes on

Unfortunately, we have a justice system which was once the envy of the world not fit for purpose in this day and age.

Instead of embarrassing the bloke by plastering his name all over social media, with a possible job/family loss why are they not helping the man get off a nasty addiction and re build his life, instead of destroying it ffs?.

We have a system which bangs people up, with no real chance of getting a job on the outside due to criminal records etc so their only real opportunity is to go back to crime, which causes yet another tax payers expense we could all do without and a merry go round for everyone involved.

We know the authorities love to nick a working class football fan too, which is why our very own copper Baker was beating his drum, like he just single handily found the missing brink mat gold with his detective skills but we all know what a waste of money this arrest was.
