Doncaster's system - could we pull it off?

Could we play similarly to Doncaster?

Hi Les,

On a scale of 1 - 10, how worried are you if you don't go up this season, do you reckon you'll end up losing a lot of your team, especially to Leeds?!

5, the game is 50/50, the vast L**ds crowd could count as much against them as for the especially if Rovers take the lead. Yes we will lose players if we stay down, expect Wellens, Price, and maybe Coppinger leaving, though they are all on good wages at Rovers.
Where's the money at L**ds to buy quality players, they've not long been out of Admin ans still haven't settled up with HMC&E.

I thought we played with 3 central mid fielders, when we got promoted from div 1. Bentley, Maher, Gutteridge, with Gower suplying the width. Now i know Benno played on the right side of mid field, but no way could you call him a winger.

With Gower going I think Tilly has decided to play the same system as Rovers next season.

Where is Gower going then?

We tried the 3-5-2 at Oxford away in the Cup and it was terrible. I'd much rather us play a 4-4-2 at home and possibly a 4-4-1-1 system away from home similiar to Liverpool.

Hasn't worked well in English football for them though. More suited to Champions League football. Carlisle tried it & cost them promotion.

According to a Swansea fan I'm in contact with, he is in talks with them.

Talking about systems nowadays is very popular, but you can only play an system when you have the right players.
A lot of managers make the mistake that they believe in their own playing system with the wrong players.

I cant see it - Tilly likes 4-4-2 and I read in World Soccer Magazine or something similar that of the ten most sucessful clubs sides in the world nine out of ten play 4-4-2 or similar.

Personally I didnt think anything was that special about Doncasters system. They just had better players on the day.

I dont think Sean A'bysmal has split the atom or created anything we havent seen hundreds of times before. This is not the Ajax system.....

Stay as we are and buy better players in our weaker areas will suit me.

Agree, perhaps Tilly will do without wingers and play with 4 midfield players who can flout back and forward as required.
