Do you wish the sheikhs had visited our pier rather than Nottingham City Centre?

Would you like a Middle East consortium with billions to take over SUFC?

yes agreed with what everyone on here says, we have a chairman that sends us a blog every tuesday, and a one leggied striker thats great for moral and writes some great receipes in his,

what more could we ever want, up with bankrupcy down with wealth and success

Yeah I don't buy it either. I'd have loved for us to have been in Notts County's position.
I dont either, what lose your ID why would you,for me it comes down to being rich or being poor, a couple of home loses with our side playing crap might soon change a few no voters minds

It makes no difference.. we could be mid table premiership and the fans would still moan.. Thats football.. I personally like where the club is at the moment.. Want to move up a league for sure.. Want to be a rich Arabs toy, mm

No, it would mean short term stability but massive instability when he decided to walk away. The thing about Southend is that we do have our own identity and the investment of some foreign mega-millionaire would completely destroy that, I like our "family" run club and the way it sits in the local community. I don't want arrogant footballers playing in our side, I want real honest to goodness footballers, ones that "belong".

I'm with you on this, Kay. I know what Rusty means when he talks about mediocrity, but I've seen some poor attitudes amongst players when we've been more successful, ie in a higher division. Paul Byrne is someone who springs to mind...he did not look bothered. I like the 'Against All Odds' heroics that come out when we're up against it and the team spirit that T&B have fostered. It would be easy to blow it by getting a 'wrong 'un' in - turn away now please Ant - eg Foran. When you see the likes of AB and Macca come over to the fans, especially at the away games, deriving just as much joy from a hard-fought win or a backs to the wall draw, it does give you a lot of 'local' pride even if you live 300 odd miles away now...

To be fair to Richie, Rob, he wasn't even that bad at that.

Don't worry, when I make a few bob I'm going to invest heavily in the club. I've got a detailed 'premiership in twenty minutes' plan that I think some of you might like. Also, I'll do a blog twice a day and I'll come on the pitch every match and tell you how fantastic you are. And if you dont believe how 'up front' and honest I'm being with you, my therapist will release an exclusive podcast each week updating you on my mental health. You'll all have my mobile number just in case you get stuck in the middle of nowhere after a night on the p*ss and need a lift home. I'm also currently in discussion with Essex police and the FA about letting you drink cans in the stand.

Exactly right Sarf, agreed.

I would like us to have a little bit more money at the moment.

The NZamba legend OUT campaign starts here.

No mention of returning to the North Bank, nor signing 200 players every day Barry Fry style.

You've got to give the fans what they want.

What do we want? NZamba Legend OUT!
When do we want it? NZow!

Sorry for my blog being ten minutes late but you know how it is. Anyway, I'd like to start by thanking you all for being fantastic supporters. You were f***ing immense last night against Ipswich and made me swell with pride. The muffled chants of sea, sea, seasiders from the south stand was something to behold. I know the players really appreciated it and it was your support that made them try that extra bit harder not the prospect of catching Roy Keane's eye.

Right, let's talk about signings. Steve and Paul haven't been to see me yet with anyone they want to sign so that's why there has been no activity so far. I'm sure that when they do identify an overseas player who can be mugged off with 200 hundred quid a week then we'll do all we can to make them a Southend player. But don't forget, my team of researchers compile extensive family tree histories of all potential signings and I have to be honest "Juan's" is taking some time. We hope to have everything ironed out in a few weeks by which time he will have joined someone else. The main thing though is that we dont rush in and sign a Richie Foran again. That was a disaster- have I mentioned that before and how it was all Steve's fault? Anyhow, I'd like to say that despite the clamour for signings we have to remember that a full team does not necessarily equal success. I draw a lot of strength from the old adage that it's often harder to play against ten men, and to be honest as the forward thinking chairman you know I am, I cant help but wonder- following that logic- whether it might be even harder for teams to play against nine, or even eight men. It's radical I know, but these are tough times for anyone.

Regarding the new stadium, I'm firing up the digger right now. Meet you down there in ten.

It will all end in tears eventually at Notts County, yes the fans will enjoy the ride but Sven will bugger off to a new and more exciting job in a couple of years and the Middle East money will probably see sense in a few years and realise own a football club is a black hole. Just look at Newcastle, there fan base and history doesnt give you success, once you have an owner that doesnt give a sh!t its all downhill from there

But on the other foot you have Chelsea,Fulham,Franchise utd(unfortunately)who have done quiet well,i say give us a filthy rich billionaire, all the silverware that comes with it,and be damned.

I can't believe that post hasn't drawn more comment - and I don't mean just a letter from Ron Martin's solicitors claiming plaigarism.

I voted no as a vote against financial instability.

A rich owner doesn't bring about financial stability, it offers financial instability. If you want stability, you want the club to grow organically, within its budget, not to be financed at the whim of an individual with no links to the club, the locality or even the country.

Our current financial situation isn't ideal, but at least our future isn't dependent on some Middle Eastern consortium maintaining interest. As soon as they lose interest, Notts County will be in all sorts of trouble. They'll attract in "big name" (aka big wage) players on big contracts, but what happens when their owners get bored? When they realise that football isn't profitable and that even if they win promotion to league one, they'll still have to visit places like Colchester in the middle of the English winter.

When they pull out, Notts County will be in huge difficulty and will probably end up in the conference and with a pretty decent chance that they will fold. Sure, they may get a couple of good seasons out of their new owners, but at what cost? It is far too big a gamble. As Southend fans, we know what can be achieved on a shoestring, when the squad is down to the bare bones - this can be achieved by stability, a local heart to the club. I'd rather take my chances on the building on team spirit, with a closely knit squad and spending cash on players who want to play for the opportunity not the cash. This is the formula that saw us promoted two years in a row, not once but twice. Doing that, we grew the club and doubled the average attendance. That's the way forward in the long term: investing in stability and in the youth team, not expensive short term gambles.

What he said.
