Discontinued Chocolate bars that you miss

frys5centre.jpg

Discontinued in 1992 according to what I read online, the reason given was the machine used to make them broke down and the sales department deemed it not economically viable to replace it as sales weren't good. I never knew this but Fry's and Cadbury merged in 1919, they now make the bars in Poland after shutting down the historic Bristol factory that had been making the bar since 1923.

All you lot diabetes free I assume. Scumbags one and all, I wish you all blocked arteries.

God I miss chocolate.

You can still indulge (sparingly). There is also of course, sugar free, diabetic chocolate on the market. And yes I know it tastes crap.Expensive too.

Not that old but as a white chocolate lover I miss Dream bars. You also can't get white Twix in this country anymore. Always look for them (and white Oreos) when I go abroad.

I miss about 30 per cent of every chocolate bar I like. I also miss Marathon. Snickers just isn't the same!

Good thread this!

I liked an old Jamaica bar but did wonder if Ihad got the name wrong and confused it with the ginger beer of the same name(which I also love, especially with some wray and nephew rum). Good to knowthat it is still available and that I had no need to doubt myself!

Used to love a trio, they were brought back fora limited period a couple of years back.

And if we are stretching to foreign bars, I dolike a cadburys cherry ripe from my time in Australia.

I still remember the old Jamaica advert

***Pirate voice *** Packed full of Jamakey Rum ....... (really long pause)...... Flavour

Those Cadbury cherry ripes are nice, I bought some in Mr Simms in the town centre a while ago.

And Opal Fruits were much better than Starbursts.

Talking of sweets from the bygone era. there's a great website I used to use often when I was working in the hotel industry called quarter of. They do some great hampers as gifts based on the generation you grew up in. From the 1950's through to the 1980's. As well as some old classics that I have forgotten about.

Might be a good idea for any old sweet toothed friends for Christmas.
