Difficult Christmas?

:) Well this is true - But it may explain how he managed to get a header in against John Terry. Stoke have Rory Delap, we now have Macca with 50 yard headers!! :)

I've said it before, but victory for me will be a little hollow if it doesn't come courtesy of a Jimmy Walker penalty. Even if it comes as a result of a penalty shoot-out after extra-time at the Hall that's deadlocked after the 21 other players have taken two spot kicks each, I still back him to seal the tie with a cheeky chip down the middle.

The problem with that is you would see a large number of SZ's throwing themselves off the end of the Pier after the comments they made about Jimmy over the weekend! :)

Very true, a point which I neglected to make when I posted on this thread. Should we bring in a number of quality players in January, then things could change in an instant, and everything in the garden could soon look rosey again.

Oddly enough, I had an extremely vivid dream last night that we won 2-0 at Chelsea, and one of the goals was an Alan McCormack header from a corner..... Beating Chelsea is one thing, but Macca scoring a header from a corner is totally unrealistic!! :)

By the way .........you can't remember the rest of the team, can you?........
just to give us an idea who we may have signed by the third of January!

I think we may take maximum points over the X-mas period as Barnard and Freedman step into the team and we grab a moral-boosting victory up at Hartlepool Friday night.
Boxing day at home with a good crowd behind us will see 3 points as Norfhampton take a battering then we take a great following with us to the steal-a-club that is MK Donuts (can't call 'em Dons, that's just an insult to a very good club) and nick a late winner.

Unfortunately not, although I do seem to remember hoofing the ball up the field in the last minute in a paniced clearance, suggesting I was either playing or about to be arrested for encroachment!! If I was playing, then as bad as Barrett/Clarke can be, it will be 10 million times worse if I'm there :)

Lets face it our season is over unless we can pick up at least 16 or 17 points form the next 8 games, and even then that will only take us back up to the fringes of the play offs.

Just bear in mind that after we lost to Millwall last year we had 44 points from 31 games which is only a marginally greater average than we have now. Also in the league 2 promotion season we only had 2 more points after 20 games than we have now.

Its a long season and still a massive amount of time left. Also a couple of inspirational signings can change things dramatically.

I am not saying that we will get anywhere near the play offs but positionally we are not out of it.

the only difference being, this time last year and back in the league 2 promotion days, we had a better team than what we do now (except MAYBE a few changes)

Probably not the best moment to start depressing people even before the dawn of the transfer window is upon us..............................but!!!
Isn't January often said by Tilly and others as a difficult time to sign players on? I know that, by all accounts, we shall be welcoming JFC back..........can anyone cheer me up by telling me other, previous, good signings that we 've made during this period?

next 8 league games being pessimistic

hartlepool a lose
northampton h draw
mk dons a lose
crewe h win
stockport a lose
yeovil h win
leeds a lose
bristol rovers h draw

8 pts being pessimstic

hartlepool a win
northampton h win
mk dons a win
crewe h win
stockport a win
yeovil h win
leeds a win
bristol rovers h win

truth is...

barny and freedman have been poor. there is no 2 ways about it. our so-called "main striker" had one shot on target yesterday against yeovil and (apart from won a fair few flick-ons) didn't look dangerous at all.

i predicted we would have a poor x-mas period. apart from the chelsea games (which only deflected attention away from our crap league form) we have been terrible.

since i started this thread we have taken 4 points! relegation form. injuries or no injuries. we ARE in trouble

Very true. In fact I think we are going to have an absolute blunder in the Christmas period taking 1 point. Bad times.

not far off. and the only reason you weren't spot on was courtesy of a wonder goal from stan the man with virtually the last kick of the game against northampton

I think the next 8 league games could be the the most crucial in how our season pans out. we play some difficult teams as well as some games where we will be favourites. theres a possible 24 points up for grabs, but as much as i hate to be negative, i can't see blues picking up more than 10-12 points. i hope i'm wrong but can't see it. We are already on a bad run but the most worrying thing is if we fail to have a good x-mas, how can we possibly climb the table and aim for play-offs. come on you blues, give us a happy x-mas and a hope for an extended season!

after 6 games we have taken 4 points. our season is panning out like this... 16 points behind the play-offs, and only 8 points in front of relegation area!!! a dog-fight is on the cards
