I would say that given Sturrock's preference to play with two natural wide men, and that both our goals so far this year have come from headed crosses, that it's pretty important that our men up top are good in the air. You only have to look at Hall and Corr last year to see how important it is, and even Sturrock managed to convert a couple in the air.
That said, I agree he does have good feet, and looked a very good player after the first half.
Don't quite agree with this. I see a header into the net from a cross and a flick on from a hopeful lump upfield as two different things. Dickinson showed that he is effective at getting his head on the end of crosses - one of his was cleared off the line by Chorley and another was saved brilliantly by Butcher. He has shown that he'll have little trouble getting on the end of crosses. But you don't have to be a target man to do that. What I don't want to see is Dickinson being used as a target man to get on the end of agricultural hoofs forward he just is not a target man. When he is outside/in front of the box, the ball must be played to his feet because he is pacey and quick on the turn.
He'll be fine at converting Hall's crosses, which is an essential part of the way we score goals, but he is NOT a targetman and to try to use him as one is a huge mistake.
