RIP Greg Lake :-(

And another legend today, John Glenn, astronaut, the first man to orbit in space dies aged 95. RIP sir.

My favourite all time song at Christmas

Mine too. Younger viewers my know Greg Lake from the King Crimson sample on Kanye West's track The Power.

I saw Lake doing a solo slot at Reading in the early eighties. I seem to remember at the time he got a bit of a slating in the music press in the reviews of the festival, but I thought it was a fantastic set. Afterall, he had the best of early King Crimson and all of ELP to choose from.

And his, and four of the other Mercury Seven test pilots' names was used by Gerry Anderson for the Tracy brothers in Thunderbirds.

Scott Carpenter - TB1
Gus Grissom - TB2
Alan Shepard - TB3
Gordon Cooper - TB4
John Glenn - TB5

Sad to hear of the passing of weather presenter Ian MacCaskill, at the age of 78. RIP

Indeed, always such a gently spoken, genial guy in contrast to the more brusque Michael Fish.

Also Walter Swinburn, top jockey and forever associated with Shergar, only 55. RIP.

Former cabinet minister Jim Prior has passed away. He was famously dubbed 'a wet' by Thatcher when she was attempting to crush the trade unions.
