Breaking news, according to Mirror journos on Twitter, is that Liverpool have accepted a bid for Torres. Doesn't say who from, though...

I was stunned to hear that SPurs had offered (and had turned down) a bid for over 30million for Agguerro. Where have they got this money from, or is Harry doing another Portsmouth?!

If I was Liverpool Id take 50 mil for Torres and spend it on 4 or 5 top players. (But not £30mil of it on Andy half a season Carroll).

Spurs entered the Champions League on a sound financial footing and, as a result, are rolling in it courtesy of the extended revenue streams. The brilliant Swiss Ramble disected their accounts, and concluded that they're in a fantastic financial position to push on.

Aguero's a tremendous player, but not one necessarily built for the Premier League. If I was Redknapp, I'd much rather sign Fernando Llorente.

According to Guillem Balague on Sky last night, Agüero was one of four players (Guiseppe Rossi of Villarreal and Julio Llorente of Athletic being others, can't remember the other one) who Spurs have bd for over the weekend. I just like the idea of 'Arry going around Europe with a big bag of cash offering it around to anyone who'll listen.

Did 'Arry recently get mugged abroad? it's a shame he isn't taken sensible precautions...

Negredo was the fourth... Negredo's very much in the instinctive striker mould, bit like a young Robbie Keane but a bit more clinical, whereas Llorente is a tall, physically imposing striker who could occupy the Crouch role with far greater effect. Aguero likes to sit a bit deeper, so him and VdV off a main striker would be a joy to watch and Rossi's a bit of an all-rounder.

Llorente's the better fit for Spurs, IMO.

Ron, that's plain irresponsible.

Whilst 'Arry didn't report this heinous crime to the police and went straight to the higher authority of the extra-jurisidictional Sun, I think you are being unduly harsh in suggesting that he didn't take precautions.

An experienced traveller like Mr Redknapp will surely have eschewed the obvious tourist choice of a money belt and opted for a more subtle way to carry cash, perhaps within an unmarked envelope. He may have even opted for a less obvious shade than vanilla and gone for something more manila in hue.

i don't really think carroll is worth 30 mill to be honest. I think he's a really good player but with only half a season in the prem thats a lot to live upto.

£30m bid has been rejected. Madness.
That it's been rejected or made in the 1st place. Can't say I blame them for rejecting it, they know Liverpool will have £50m sitting in the bank at some stage today, so why not hold out for a bit more....

The transfer market is bonkers, Carroll is English which puts about £10 mill on his value straight away. Liverpool have just bought Suarez for less.

I agree, can't blame Newcastle sticking to their guns for a bit of last minute haggling / panicking.

I think it's madness Liverpool have gone in with 30mil straight away. Given Carroll is a bit of a loose cannon, surely they should have gone in at about 12-15 million, made it public and hope Carroll put pressure on being allowed to go....

According to The Times, Liverpool actually bid £25m but Newcastle have claimed it was £30m, one supposes in order to ramp things up a bit.

BBC Reporting Torres to CFC is a done deal. I'd expect Liverpool to either oblige to Newcastle's bidding, or maybe join Redknapp on his Spanish expedition.

Suarez is unproven in the Premier$hite though.

Will he be able to handle the rough and tough, the cold and the language? With Carroll you know that's not an issue.

You also need to consider how long both are under contract for at their current clubs, their ages and their wages.

Emile Heskey spotted in Newcastle... although he was aiming for Middlesbrough.
