David Haye's next opponent will be.....

So much for the "Battle of Brixton"... It's being held at the MEN.

How this fight has "huge box office appeal" I'll never know... It's scandalous that they'll charge £15 for this fight, whereas FMJ and Pacquiao are more or less screened for free on Sky Sports.

I wont be paying £15.

They had to cut the press conference because they are swearing at each other! :D

They are comparing this to Lewis v Bruno!! This fight has a whole lot of 'meh' about it.

Lewis - Bruno :D :D :D

Whilst I can see where they are coming from, i.e. Britains 2 best/biggest heavyweights (that's a joke in itself), squaring off, so similar to Lewis-Bruno, however neither Haye or that fake Harrison can compare to the two afformentioned fighters.

I'm laughing more at the fact that they are hyping it up to Lewis-Bruno.

If the fight was any good, they'd be trying to downplay comparisons to that.

However, Fraudley's a mope. The ultimate waster of boxing who's never produced anything close to the hype. His last fight, which he claimed would be his last in the result of a loss, was one of the most shameful winning performances I've seen from a boxer. Yes, it was a good punch to floor the lad, but he done absolutely nothing to warrant it in the eleven rounds and two minute prior.

Didn't he tear a muscle early on in the fight, which meant he couldn't throw a right hand? He definitely had to have surgery afterwards. I thought he did well to hang on and then what a KO punch at the end. He's ****, but personally I give him a bit of credit for that fight.

Agreed. Harrison showed a huge amount of heart in that fight.

I read through the 6-0-6 thread about this fight just now and can't believe how whiney some boxing fans are. He couldn't agree terms with the Klitch Bros (hardly new in Boxing unfortunately) so he needs to fight someone and this is a fight which will attract a lot of interest over here. I think it'll be far more competitive than taking on a near 50-year old Holyfield would be. Yes Haye has everything to lsoe but surely that is life as a Champion. I'm quite looking forward to it.

Fair enough, I didn't know it was a tear... I was under the impression it was a rib he cracked.

I don't think they're whining about the fight per se, merely that Haye appears to be going backwards... If he wasn't English and running his mouth off, Haye wouldn't even give Harrison a second thought and, for me at least, this is as close to a given as Haye will find in this weight division. He moans constantly about the Klitschkos not taking him seriously and refusing to budge on their 60/40 split demands, yet does nothing to correct the situation.

Fighting a 49 year old Holyfield offers nothing, but beating a serious contender, like Peter or Adamek, in a Vegas casino packed to the rafters (as it ultimately would be, as Heavyweight Boxing is still the only show in town when it's on offer in Vegas) would give him a bartering chip to use.

It reminds me of Froch calling out Calzaghe... Only Calzaghe was quite correct in his summation that he had nothing to gain from fighting someone so blatantly below his level, so he didn't bother.

I have to say, his "This fight will be more one-sided than a gang rape" line did give me a chuckle... if only for the monumental over-reaction it caused in the press this morning.

I'd imagine DeGale will be lined up for the undercard, with Frankie Gavin a possibility as well.
DeGale and Gavin are both with Warren so there is zero chance of them being on the undercard. It'll be George Groves and someone else.

And it has huge box office appeal, because Haye vs Ruiz got about 450,000 PPV buys (more than every single Khan PPV put together) and nobody knew who Ruiz was, apart from the fact he once got beat by a Super Middleweight.

This is going to be marketed brilliantly, Audley is a great talker and he'll get people believing he can win. He's a far better opponent than Samuel Peter, and especially Shannon Briggs. People need to remember that boxing is as much about showmanship than it is about sport. No-one wants to see Haye go 12 rounds with some jobbing fighter who nobody cares about, this is a fight that the whole country will talk about, and will lead nicely into a Klitchko battle next year.

And how many of those PPV's were solely based on it being the first title defence of a newly crowned British Heavyweight World Champion? Nobody cared who it was up against, he'd won them over by beating Valuev... To carry that momentum forward, he had to fight a real contender, rather than the token British fighter purely for domestic interest.

As for nobody wanting to see Haye go 12 rounds, I think you're wrong there. Nobody wants to see two bulking HW's, plodding around the ring hiding behind their jab for it to be decided on points... But Haye has been offering something different for this weight division. His style is something that the weight class hasn't seen for the best part of a decade and I'd say that boxing fans would love to see him dismantle the typical Heavyweight like he did against Ruiz.

And as for the Khan PPV comment, Sky rushed him onto PPV cards far too early IMO, when he was still finding his feet in professional boxing, and this led to them screening fights against part-time teachers and binmen thatwere invariably over inside three rounds. Now he's with Roach he looks the part and his last few fights have been against proper talent, and I now make him worth the fee.
