I'm actually quite impressed with this move. When Phil Brown was appointed some of you had doubts as to his experience in League Two and I'll admit that I had concerns myself. In order to assemble a half decent side at this level on our budget you need to have an eye for a good deal when you see one. Without a thorough knowledge of players at this level and below thats much more difficult.

Bringing in Penney who will know League 1 and 2 like the back of his hand can only help with this side of things.

Lets hope Dave Penney does most of his scouting in our region. I still have a worry about these Northern-based people and their contacts. There is always that problem of players and/or their families not settling in the South-East. Would still much rather the Tilly, Brush and Webby regimes who knew the area and signed players accordingly. Good luck to Dave Penney though.

That's fine.
Having to go through a midfield is just a waste of time ( Barcelona found that out recently ).
Just lump it forward and all chase after it.

He is going to be scout so wont have a massive effect on the way we play (assuming Brown tells him the type of players he wants to get). Brown has already said the midfield is the one area he feels vital to get right.

The only side he really did anything at was DOncaster other than that he has been pretty woeful as a manager,

Oldham - worse

I think as long as we can afford it an the backroom staff costs dont effect the players wages then we need all the help we can .
