Not seen this anywhere on here yet. A tweet an hour ago from Chris Phillips:

@CJPhillips1982: Dave Penney is being heavily linked with a position in the coaching set up at Blues.

Pretty obvious what's going on here - he is a former bricklayer while Brown was once an electrician.

Perhaps the new stadium will happen next year ? - Ron's apparently having digger driving lessons and Steve Kavanagh is learning carpentry.

Maybe a physio who knows a bit of plumbing next ?

Dave Penney .Saw this go to Dave Pennys football academy.co.uk .Maybe being brought in to replace someone who maybe going to the gunners academy .????

Also found this on Dave Penny .The Dave Penny practice on wealth management .Watch out Ron someone maybe going to teach you all about the proper use of money management .May help as this is something you know very little about

The old Donny manager?

Would be more than happy with this, as I remember them playing passing football, and being a good team to watch, and they taught us a football lesson in the League One play-offs.

Brown also seems to want to bring a better style of football as well, so it could be the end of hoof-ball, and for that I applaud.

It wasn't Penney who managed Donny to that Play-off vistory over us though, was it? Wasn't that Sean O'Driscoll who is now at Bristol City? Penny had managed Doncaster for a few years but a little earlier than that.

My two main memories of Dave Penney are from his playing career. I remember him being exceptionally versatile in one of the early Championship Manager games (DMRLC in CM94 I think...!) and that he scored Oxford's goal in that 6-1 win over them when Tommy Mooney scored a hat-trick.

On the contrary he was sacked at Oldham for poor league position and playing negative and dull football.

Penney was pretty much a 'must' signing on CM :)

Whoops, yes you are correct. Getting my Donny managers mixed up!

He can **** right off then :winking:

I think Penney either managed or scored when Doncaster beat us in the FA Cup.

I don't want to try and remember too much because it's too painful. Ranks alongside that Boston defeat as one of the lowest points in my time supporting.

Don't be too down hearted, he still had tremendous success with Doncaster - got them out of the football league, and I believe, got them promoted to League One the following season (or maybe season after). He had a bad time at Oldham, but you'd have to say that as back room staff go, they won't come much more qualified than him - I imagine it's a risky strategy for Brown though, as if he doesn't perform well next season, there is a ready made replacement working for him!!

I'm actually quite impressed with this move. When Phil Brown was appointed some of you had doubts as to his experience in League Two and I'll admit that I had concerns myself. In order to assemble a half decent side at this level on our budget you need to have an eye for a good deal when you see one. Without a thorough knowledge of players at this level and below thats much more difficult.

Bringing in Penney who will know League 1 and 2 like the back of his hand can only help with this side of things.
