It's been a very long time indeed that I have a vague interest in blues. Usually I'm buzzing home or way whether going or listening on the radio.

At the moment I'm just a bit meh.

The last time I felt like this was probably under Alvin Martins management.

I just find it hard to have any interest at the moment. The club is stagnating and the new ground is just as far away now as it was at the beginning. The difference now is that roots hall Is practically in a state of ruin. Not a penny being spent on any improvements.

On the pitch we are playing dull unimaginative football under a leadership that seem to have taken us as far as they can. They certainly don't seem capable of building a talented squad, even with the chairman's backing.

The players apart from the odd few don't appear to be happy at the club and there is little confidence in any attacking form.

I got a season card and will go , but it all seems a bit of a chore at the moment.

Anyone else feel the same? Or should I just get myself some meds.

It's OK T2H. It's what supporting lower league clubs is all about. It's never plain sailing for any prolonged length of time but that's why we are true supporters and not glamour chasers like the Southend born Wet Sham or Manure 'fans'. UTB

Apart from the whole team who came over to the away end last week. You should have seen the smile on the face of young Harry Kyprianou.

You support a team who's budget is lower than at least 15 other teams in L1. You should either accept it, buy a West Ham shirt or try Lakeside on Saturday afternoons.

So T2H expresses himself as per usual you have to throw in a sneering remark. I wish you would beggar off and support Wet Sham. I sure their fans would love to be subjected to your smug superiority. Maybe you might learn about fan unity and stop being so judgemental and divisive

I remember it feeling like a chore when Sturrock was in charge. The football wasn't great and we were still in League Two.

If I draw a comparisons to when I felt like that towards the club and now, I'm happier with the state we're in now without it being perfect.

Yes Brown irritates me. Yes we struggled to sign players. Yes we started the season poorly... But as others have said, that's Southend United and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The one thing that truly does annoy me, is that I haven't SEEN the club take real initiative of the promotion and attempted to steady our finances. It's all pinned the this new stadium pipe dream with no Plan B.

If you compare southend currently with some situations they have found themselves in the past, our position is not that bad. We have had dark days in the past with very low crowds and struggling at the bottom of division 4. Yes, I know it's not great right now. But trust me it has been a lot worse. A few wins under our belt and it could all soon look very different.

I know your still bitter because we got promoted. But if people don't want to be sneered at, they shouldn't sneer at the club on every thread.

No one forces you through the door at RH.

I make him right on this occasion. It's all about opinions, isn't it? And it would be incredibly boring if we all felt exactly the same.

On a personal note, I am frustrated by things that go on. I abhor the lack of information on the new ground and I am very disappointed at the loss of Steve Kavanagh, who has been an excellent CEO. However, none of that will stop me supporting the team, and the manager, for that matter. #SouthendtillIdie

Charming as ever. People are allowed different opinions but telling someone to basically "put up and shut up" isn't helpful.

I think it's this that concerns me the most. Roots hall has been allowed to rot.

I'd rather have stable finances and a new stadium in league 2 than an average side woeful finances and inept managerial team in league 1.

I could see roots hall being shut down or facing stand closures if no money is put in over the next few seasons. It's possibly the worst in the league.

Exactly.....I have a completely different opinion than some on here......Or is that not allowed

They are my club. Some of the personnel brass me off at times, some of the supporters brass me off at times, and I brass me off at times but that is what supporting Southend is all about. Conversely it's a great feeling when you seen good stuff and you celebrate, often in a way that is unsuitable for your system any more, hugging complete strangers at Wembley and so on. There are lots of things happening at the club at the moment that I would rather didn't happen, but when the whistle blows for the start of the game all that vanishes and it's game on, good or bad.

I'm waffling a bit, but my current feeling for the club is the same as ever, I want them to beat everyone and send me home happy. When they don't win, I hope they will next time. Of course I could find fault but life's too short and what would I do with my time if SUFC didn't exist........that doesn't bear thinking about. Good or bad, they're my club.

It's a tough one 'T2H'.

Because of the new stadium (yep, I'm not convinced any more than anyone else) there has been a neglect of RH as there's no point in spending money on it.

Most people would probably put up with the facilities and have the money spent on the team, but at the moment, neither is easy to do.

In short, we're a potless club hanging on a bit, but unless RM sells up to someone with the cash, it's a catch 22.

Personally, and I don't want to go off topic onto the new stadium too much but I think the plans put forward have all been, a bit much. Col U have a kit form stadium and from what I gather stable finances, not to mention 7 or 8 20-something-years-olds from the academy in and around the first team.

The facility doesn't have to be spectacular, just purposeful.

No problem with the club for me:

we are Southend United
we are not West Ham United
we're in League One thank goodness
we've got some good players injured at the moment, with our first choice team in place we should do well.

I'd love to see us promoted to the Championship, but that isn't our natural place unless we get a large new stadium and some major investment. Thus our efforts in the Championship are to be relished and savoured when they occur.

I've asked myself how I'd feel if we were promoted to the Premiership with massive new investment, similar to Bournemouth. Part of me thinks I'd feel bad about it - we wouldn't really be Southend United any longer and we'd be in danger of being sucked into the morass of overpaid and over-indulged players and managers performing for a global audience.

On the other hand, I bet I'd still go and roar the team on if we did get there.

Unlikely to happen though. This season I'll be hoping for a play-off place and promotion to the Championship.....

Just been watching Football Focus ,and a West Ham love in showing off the stadium gifted by us the taxpayer.Gold stating how cheap it was to see them .Depressed yes ,we should have been in our stadium before their move and been on a level where we could maintain a much better team and support. We have been forced to endure this never ending fairytale of a new ground when in reality it's all about Ron clinging on to try and get a return on his investment and not what's best for the club, broken promise after broken promise. We now have a situation where Ron treats the fans with contempt and doesn't have the decency to keep the Fans informed whilst wanting us to part with our money.
We are now in a position where this season could be over within a handful of games if injuries to key players don't improve. Is it coincidence that the man responsible for transfers leaves as we secure one player on deadline day who now can't even Play!.
Something is seriously wrong statements made by PB unravel within hours,we have a ground falling down and an invisible chairman

T2h, I understand where you are completely. I feel similarly.
I have my ST , I want to know everything that's going on, but the actual football seems almost secondary. I have found myself not listening to the games on the radio with the intent that I used to, I don't get anywhere near as excited when a home game is approaching, to the extent of no longer arranging things around games anymore. It's no great deal if I miss a home game, the club still has my financial support , but they won't miss me actually attending ( I am not the noisiest of spectators) and tbh, I find the atmosphere at games to be a tad depressing. It's not losing games, I have seen the vast majority of the games in all bar the very first relegation season, it's the air of what appears to be constant criticism around the place which depresses me.
If we play possession football at the back , the moans are about getting it forward, if we go long, it's about not keeping it. If a player runs with the ball and loses it, it's about not passing. If they pass early it's about not running with it.
Perhaps it's the general expectation that the crowd seems to have about instant gratification. We are a lower league side and one with no money at that, we are crap, I know that.

Exactly.....I have a completely different opinion than some on here......Or is that not allowed

You're entitled to an opinion but that doesn't give you impunity (Right word?)to be rude to those who don't share your view.

As for the club. Dome. Never? Rust?

I don't want to go onto the new stadium either but I've long believed that the new stadium was always over ambitious.

The silence has been deafening.

We have not been able to compete in the transfer market. Whether that is down to finances, incompetence or just lack of interest from players is unknown.

We have a team of triers who showed last week they can compete, but you can't defend for your lives every week.

Hopefully things will improve when we can get players back from injury/jail.
