Crowd - anyone else think it was strange...

Trivial point, but the Northampton game in the play offs in 2005 had a slightly higher gate than the Donny game.

I personally have a problem with evening games, have to leave work in London early, which isn't always easy, rush around like a headless chicken to arrive exhausted in my seat as opposed to saturday games which are leisurely.

Mind you I haven't missed a home game saturday or evening since the 90s.

Well I'd like to know why, with so many spare seats in the ground, someone was yet again sold the same seats as me. As Season Card holders i expect to get to the ground and find my two sons and my seats waiting for us but for the 5th time this season I find someone sitting in them with printed tickets with our seat numbers on. An argument then ensues which I can simply do without. All I ever get is a simple apology from the ticket office. Well it isnt good enough anymore. *****g sort it out !! Discipline whoevers responsible cos if it happens again next season I'm writing to Ron. There's no excuse with the computer based systems they have. Or perhaps they arent as good as they think. It has to be human error surely?
Anyone else had this problem ? Or know why it happens ?

:madman:

Not for a couple of seasons. I was also invilved in a near fight when faced with the same situation. Fortunately another season ticket holder nearby didn't come and I sat in his seat. I wrote direct to Ron Martin to complain, got a polite letter back, a new card was allocated to me and the problem disappeared.

Well me, my bro and his missus missed our first home game of the season on friday. Money and being able to get time off from work was the deciding factor.

I'm in between pay packets from 2 different employers atm, and the last working day of the month can't come soon enough. Which might mean that I don't have the money for the Wembley game. Oh well life sucks some times!

[ Plus its all done by computers now so it cant be fiddled.[/quote]

I think you'll find that that makes it a darn site easier

If we make it I will, and so will my brother, be begging the old man for a loan! Tho we have to take his missus as she has yet to see southend lose!! The only games we have lost at home this season she wasn't there, it's been spooky!

Did you stop to think that some of us casual fans as you put it might not have been able to make it because of work or family commitments? Or perhaps it's only those that attend every game home and away that are loyal supporters. For your information, if we get to the final then fans will be flying in from all around the world to cheer our team on at Wembley. Are they allowed to come or are they not loyal and too casual for you?

Indeed, I shall be making a 7000 mile round trip should we get through.

Another possible explanation would be tickets that don't work.

I was helping hand out the flags for the East Stand, and the stewards have a form to fill in every time a ticket doesn't operate the turnstile like it should (red light comes on and barrier doesn't move instead of the green light when you can enter). There were a lot of these who had to be let in manually, more than usual as the stewards were commenting on this.

Question is if it's all done by computers, do these people get counted in the attendance figures? If there were more problem tickets than usual then this might also add to the low figure quoted.

Good point Dash, certainly from where we were sitting, you could see that the east end of South lower was very sparsely populated.

Aren't they the seats usually given to clubs participating in the SUFC in the Community schemes?

I hope that you are not implying that the attendance figures aren't accurate ?!

We' ll be having Mark and Tony back next.....:stunned:

Could they be fake tickets ? Might explain people sitting in my seat. I sit int the East. Seems a coincidence

There was a huge block empty in the south lower that was full for Port Vale.

I even had an empty seat next to me in East Blacks (the chap works and often misses weekday games).

Was disappointing not to make 10,000 but still a good attendance and a cracking atmosphere.

I'm sure they report the correct ones to the league, just wondering if they have time on the night to do anything other than just read the figure off of the computer.

Doubt it, the stewards seemed very used to it so probably just the ticketing system having hiccups.
