Cricket World Cup (50 Overs)

Comical fielding there. RtD gets a quick single, ball fires off the stumps and goes the other side of the pitch for a boundary. Summed up our fielding today! Great knock from Tendo and i've been cheering him on for sure. England need a wake up call and this should be it...

Embarrassing

Take nothing away from the Dutch, and i've seen RtD bat like that so many times for Essex over the years but England were pathetic, our bowling was far too short and sitting up waiting to be hit, Anderson bowling two chest high beamers in an over so should've been removed from the attack, our fielding was disgraceful from the 3rd ball when Bresnan palmed a routine stop into the rope for 4, no backing up from throws, Collywobbles sitting on his thumb instead of getting in the circle resulting in a no ball instead of a wicket, tenDos skiied effort landing between KP and Anderson while they gawp at each other

Pick Ravi over Yardy and then use KP as the extra spinner, an octogenarian with a weak bladder has more control than him

My boys school team are more professional than that FACT !!!!!

I'm bloody livid i tell you

As one person on the bbc live tex remarked, hasnt RTD been here long enough to qualify as English??

He sees himself as South African and (unlike half our current side) has no desire to play for us .. actually scrub that as on todays showing none of our current side want to play for us

Said with a hint of Steve McLaren Dutch no doubt....

Reading the reports it sounds like the most shambolic of displays. We were exceptional fielding during the ashes, chasing down lost causes at the end of full days play, with someone else runnig 60 yards to pat the fielder on the bottom, yet we now seem a spent force and like we dont want to be there....

That wasn't sarcasm!

He is statistically the best one-day player of all-time. Knocks like this one demonstrate that it isn't a fluke.

I thought you were being clever as majority of his games are against the "lesser nations"! Tendo has got better and better as the years have gone on and continues to be one of Essex's most reliable and consistant performers!

Well that was a competent enough run chase i guess, but we need to improve our bowling and fielding skills tenfold if we are to get close to India on Sunday

Huge moment in this World Cup.

South Africa unleash their secret weapon against a team notoriously bad at playing spin. This could well be the moment this World Cup turns on. The Saffer's main weakness is their lack of a spin bowling option and if this is the moment Tahir comes of age, I'd make them favourites to win it.

Just 2 runs off of his first over in international cricket.

And Bravo whacks him for 6 one-handed. Brilliant knock from Darren Bravo so far, really entertaining player, I must confess to not being aware of him before today.

Surely you jest?? .. he's got his own TV station :winking: :raspberry:

I'll get me coat

Ha, I'm claiming him as mine as he's in my Battrick WC Fantasy XI. The whispers are that he's a better batsman than his brother and he's been compared to another Trini left-hander, a certain Brian Charles Lara, and you can certainly see the Lara influence in his batting. 73 off 82 is a good start for him, although it's a shame he didn't go on and get the hundred.

The thing is he might not even be the best young Trinidadian batsman as I rate Barath really highly, but sadly he's injured. Whilst most of West Indies cricket is a shambles, Trinidad actually have a really strong batting side with the likes of the two Bravos, Barath, Simmons and Ramdin, that I'd rate above test sides like NZ Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. I reckon they are the side most under threat from the IPL's influence when you combine a weak domestic set-up, a poor international team and the fact that Kieron Pollard (also Trini!) earns millions from IPL despite not being actually that good. If the WIndies sorted themselves out they could actually have a decent team - T&T should give them a good spine with the bat which you can supplement with the two experienced Guyanese Chanderpaul and Sarwan, whilst there's enough raw fast-bowling talent out there (and I'm looking forward to getting a good look at Roach) that they should be able to fashion a half decent attack. What I think is missing is discipline and leadership, both from the board and as captain - which is presumably why they've gone for Sammy as a specialist captain because they can't be picking him in tests for his bowling or batting. This is turning into another rant where I'll end up slagging off Gayle, say he's a terrible influence and should be dropped isn't it?

Now Smith's out, giving Tahir his first international wicket. Cue the squeeze followed by a collapse.
