SUFC: The Future COSU scenario

How would you feel about such a statement from COSU?

I do think this is a pointless thread, there is much to indicate that COSU are in this for the long term.

Just a side issue, do the 6 people who voted "Deluded. Things were actually better under Ron Martin" realise that they can be identified quite easily, and have self-described... RM was taking us down the road to ruin... how were things better under his rule?
Are you thinking Ron has multiple logins on the Zone?

A possible scenario:
At the end of the season Southend have finished mid-table and not made the FAT final.
The dissatisfaction of some fans will have increased further.
COSU issue a statement saying we've now put over 8 million pounds of our money into the club - 5M paying off debts inherited from Ron Martin, 2M on covering annual losses inherited from RM and over 1M on Roots Hall and the new training ground needed due to RM's lack of investment for many years.
We are aware that many fans are unhappy with the direction of the club and that they believe we should spend our money differently and/or spend more of our money.
Given this disparity between COSU's vision for the club and that of many of the club's fans, we feel that we have no alternative but to ask for new investors and/or buyers to come forward.
If no genuinely interested and well-funded parties have come forward by the end of June 2025, we will cease funding the annual losses and put any further investment in Roots Hall and the Training Ground on hold.
How as a supporter of Southend United do you think you would react to such a statement?
Poll attached.
What a load of garbage. Whoever has wasted their time coming up with this nonsense really does need to get out more.

There’s been a whole host of nonsense posted on here for weeks on end and not just on COSU matters. Maybe someone could find COSU’s original statement/philosophy when the takeover completed and post as a sticky. I’m pretty sure they have kept to their plan and possibly invested more in ground renovation etc than originally planned, partly spurred on by the we must have our North Bank back minority.

This season is not over, we need to cement our mid-table position with a possible chance of going on a run and making the play offs and we are still in a cup that is every bit as Mickey Mouse as LDV was until we got to the southern final and then Cardiff. The sea of blue all long the M4 a never forgotten memory despite the result.

We were on the cusp of going out of business for gawd’s sake and that s a near, not distant memory. If it takes us 5 more years to get out of this league that is far more palatable than a phoenix club.

Entertainment? Quality? For every match report on defeats I’ve read NOTHING compares to the dire days of 2,000 crowds and very drab football. I’d take this squad, warts and all, over that era 100 times out of 100. Didn’t stop me watching them and as I commented to the fan next door on the terraces ‘CAN YOU HEAR ME?’
