and what was the firsts match back like ?

being a total glory hunter myself the way back was via the LDV vans final against Blackpool -

time awol - we are talking more than a decade

3 months every summer

Good man, can't imagine missing games no matter how poor we are.

Having only missed a handful of home games in twenty years usually because Im thousands of miles away can't imagine missing too many games!!! :stunned:

Ashamed to confess a good few couple of years in the late 80s/early 90s - the sacrifices you make for love. When I came back though, it was like coming home - a Friday night game, the floodlights, the lush green grass, the smell of the burgers (and fags!) and I thought, why on earth did I stop doing this?

Lots of big gaps in the early 1990s when our family lived abroad. Although we'd try to arrange trips back to England for when Southend were at home it didn't always work out. I reckon there was probably a three year gap 1991-94.

Thankfully my Grandpa would record the matches that were on LWT and send them over so at least I got to see a few games that way.

Thank God for Betamax.

That was more 80s I think

From april 1984 (H v Sheff Utd, lost 0-1) to sept 1986 (Man City in league cup, 0-0). My 2 sons were born within this period which obviously saw my life change somewhat, plus the fact we were absolute rubbish during this time which saw crowds plummet to under 3,000. And i also took up marathon running.

Mine was Yeovil away October 4th. Me dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor in november, he used to come with me a lot and he took me & osymandus to our first ever game against tranmere about 23 years ago. Now it doesnt feel the same without him and it doesnt feel important any more.

Pretty much from relegation to League 2 through to the return of Webby against York, I just couldn't take the pain. Now, I'm numb to it and thankful for the good days we have now.

From Feb. '94 (0-3, home to Barnsley) the w/e before I moved to Cornwall, to Feb. (?) '97 (home to Ipswich, 0-0). Managed to see a few away games at Torquay before the cheap flights from Newquay in the early noughties, but still don't see as many games as I would like...due to distance, money, work etc. Delighted that Exeter came up and Yeovil stayed up though. My trick these days is to spend a week out of Cornwall and try to catch three games, eg in Feb., I've got my eye on MKD & Norwich away, then Charlton at home.

Last game I went to was a 4-0 home victory over Huddersfield. With working every Saturday a bit of a Billy no mates I prefer to listen to it on the radio

missed a lot last year, probably maximum of 2 months... it's tough being an exile. before that it was probably something like 99/00 when we were sinking without trace, what an awful season. think i only went to a handful of games

Every Tuesday night games due to work, prior to that when I was on the rock'n'roll couldn't afford to go then, mind you that was 13 years ago so went when I could. By the way if any one wants to go on a Tuesday just PM me or LeeBlue, it's a family seaso 1 adult 1child. I can't go so may as well be used by blues fans.

In my early years of watching I would probably only get to half the Home games,

76-77 I was at Uni in Cardiff so I missed months at a time.

Since then the longest run of missed home games has been 3

Had a spell when we were in the old league one under Whelan where I was playing football to a decent level and enjoyed that a lot more. My side were going for the Sussex title and Southend were going nowhere but down so it was not a tough call.

Got injured the following season and couldnt play anymore so came back into the fold. Not sure what I would do if I was able to play now as its hard to beat the buzz of playing.

Came back for a game early december 2007 2008 season and chose right we won 4 1 for the life of me cant remember who it was, but i do know they had a guy sent off.Havnt seen a game since, so right now for me.
