Question Club Crest - keep current one or design a new one?

Would you keep the current badge

One question that has been not been asked is if the Consortium have any plans to redesign the club badge.

Often we have seen teams update their logo’s to keep it modern or signify a new era i.e. West Ham at their new stadium.

While I appreciate this is not the most pressing issue for them, have the Consortium any intentions to review this?

Are fans happy with what we have or be open to a new badge to signify new beginnings?

Personally, I love the current badge and don’t see a need to change it considering the actual meaning behind it each part of the crest I believe represents the area and club well.

All we need to change is the blue on our kit Ron bought back the navy 25 years ago … he’s gone that goes with him!! Badge stays. 👍🏻… royal blue pls
The badge is Ron's too.

FWIW, I can't understand why we'd go back to royal blue permanently. It's generic and just the same as countless other clubs' colours. Navy is much more unique.

All these 'modernisations' of club badges are rubbish - compare West Ham's badge to their previous one, or Solihull Moors', or Bristol City's, or Yeovil's proposed new badge, recent change.... They're all generic and bland, the only club badge change I can think of that has improved on the existing effort in the last few years is Sheffield Wednesday.
I don't want us to go down that route, the badge is intrinsically linked to the club's identity so let's not fiddle with it for no reason.

I’m torn but the more I think about it…. I would

It would draw a line under the ‘Ron’ era and give us a fresh feel.

This should be done under consultation with the fans though and if so designs should be voted on.

Those saying about going back to the old one done forget there is a bloody lion on it. For all Rons faults at least it went from a lion to a shrimp.

Is it true that the lion was because or in dedication to Ken Bates for helping save the club?

Lastly this might be a bit of neat trivia, we had a sort of transition badge between the 90s one to the current one.

I believe it was only for one season but it had an anchor on it. Believe it was the shirt sponsored by Rebus and had the orange away one with Wyndham plastics

When this question has been posed before I always thought there's no need to change it and there isn't really. There's nothing wrong with it. But given all that's happening at the club it would be fitting if there were a new design to at least but a symbol of this new phase of our history we're heading towards.

Yeah exactly my point, many clubs change it for ****s and giggles but at least ours will have a meaningful reason (if that’s what that majority want of course)

Although I love tradition I remember the first club badge being the towns coat of arms so have seen a number of changes including the kit showing just a shrimp and initials .Really feel a total rebrand and kit colour change would be a good thing to signal a new start. Every generation has it's own starting point and memories. Get the supporters involved with the new choices and let's start this new exciting era for our new younger fans

I like the badge as it is, it’s definitely better with the Shrimp than the lion. I wouldn’t be against the consortium considering a rebrand if it was done in consultation with the Fan Advisory Board though. We could keep the basic elements and layout and just spruce it up.

Could someone post all the iterations of the crest on here?

That's correct - just for 2000/01. John Main's wife owned the rights to it!

I believe the lion is in reference to Ken Bates, but I don't know if that's just a myth that everyone believes to be fact?!
