Now THAT was a proper cinema. It was big enough in my day but apparently before it was split into two it used to seat 2,750 people.

Def the Odeon, that's the Presto/Caters Supermarket next to it.

I used to frequent the Westcliff Classic in London Road regularly during the 70s and 80s (the site is now Halfords for those too young to remember). Who remembers the Friday night late movie shows, great fun after an evening down the pub? I recall creeping up on my mate during a double bill 'Poltergiest / Poltergiest II' and finding out that he screams like a small girl with pigtails ...

Is that the Westcliff Classic (latterly "The Cannon") Mike? Funny how your mind distorts things as it's nothing like I remember?! In my head it was set well away from the road??

Used to like those all-nighters and remember a particularly good night watching House Party 1 and 2 where the audience were basically having their own party at the same time....

We're both wrong. I had another look and realised what it was - a Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 1. Look at the position of the fuel cap and the black trim above it, and then look at this photo... I'm sure of it.

Yep, I knew it was the Odeon - was looking everywhere for a Classic piccie until I found that one. What a fantastic place. The Classic wasn't a bad alternative as long as you weren't looking for new films.

Both of us usurped by Beaver though. I was six at the time but I just don't remember seeing that one.

I remember my Dad taking me to see The Battle of Britain & Tora Tora Tora at the Ritz. The last film I saw there was Waterloo.
