City Shrimpers Next Week - WARNING!

Or, when in 2020 as half of Britain is under water and there's riots in the remaining streets for a box of cornflakes and you're living in a shed while the rich live in flying spaceships, you might think, "Oh bugger, if only I made a stand."

Then again, I'm sitting here in my dressing gown and have no intention protesting, so what a hypocrite I am eh?

I honestly don't know what is worse.
Another potential impending corporate/financial meltdown.....

.....or the thought of MK in his dressing gown :stunned:

Our school has a planned day trip to the Tower of London on Wednesday - impeccable timing! Official advice from the Met is to "monitor" the situation!

I'm down at NICE on Wednesday, they've already had their doors stormed by the Alzheimer's Society (who were probably looking for their glasses or somethang), hopefully I'll be safe!

I wasn't aware of any trouble in France?

I wasn't aware of any trouble in France?

that was my ultimate moment in my career so far, when someone asked what the French equivalent of NICE was called... I said Nice (as in the place!)... ooh it was funny!

The only time a group of people made a worthwhile and effective stand in my lifetime was when the Eastern Bloc countries rejected Communism in the late 80s and early 90s. It's only left-wing crap that can upset people enough to bring about meaningful change.

The Romanian revolution was fantastic. Ceaucescu getting shot 2 hours after a tribunal.

How about the Viet Cong who stood up to everything the Yanks could throw at them?

Or the Sandanista's who stood up against American backed right wing rebels.

Or the Taleban, backed by the US,who stood against the Russian invasion and are now standing against the US (probably backed by the Russians).

Or the Iranians who overthrew their right wing Shah and replaced him with something equally as bad.

Or the Kurds, who stood against Iraq but were sorely not supported by the US

Or the magnicifent yellow line that stood firm against the onslaught at Stamford Bridge. No US backing required!

My employers got in on the act today with panic measures. You won't be surprised to learn they are American and this really is the stuff of nonsense. Just as bad are our multitude of staff policies and procedures which explain fully to me why the US is in such a state. If they spent more time enforcing fewer rules and regs rather than just keep making new ones the world would be a better place. Apparently (may be a myth) Labour pass more bills in a year than the Tories in 5.

Back to the subject. Dress down is chinos and a shirt which is probably a bigger target Than a suit. No mobile phones, blackberries or laptops to be used outside etc etc. Orm never dresses down and so will probably be dead by next Friday. I despair

There will be more coppers in london than protesters next week. nothing to worry about. Police operation cost is being quoted at over £6 million!. Amazing thing is, where are they when you phone for help and are told they are undermanned?.

I thought I read 40,000 protestors and 2,000 old bill - so I wouldn't count on them if you need help.

I am going in both days despite company advice because I will get more work done in the midst of a riot than I would do at home.

So.....

They're protesting against poverty, and in doing so they're costing the country £6 million (plus the bill for cleaning up after them, and any damage they cause)?

Then if they are protesting simply about poverty then why are all city workers irrelevant of what profession they work in, being told not turn up in regulation attire (i.e. a suit). One of my sons works for an insurance company and all staff have been told to wear something casual and not to leave the building throughout the day!. I wish i had a city job because i would wear a suit and go for a stroll during my lunchbreak, and if any rag-tag anachist decided to target me for whatever reason, then it would be the biggest mistake they made in their life. Mind you, in these days it would probably me who ended up being arrested!.

We have been told that any staff not working from home Wednesday and Thursday should dress in casual attire.

I am hoping my choice of Lois Jeans, Sergio Tachini tracksuit top and Diadora trainers will help me blend in with protesters and avoid any shoeings that are being dispensed.
