I'm sorry if this has been mentioned or already spoken of but there is a rumour Southend have signed Chris Barker from Plymouth on loan for a month following injuries to Herd and Gilbert.

So is this true?

By the way, can we even sign loan players while we are under an embargo? Presumably there is some sort of pre-loan agreement akin to a pre-contract agreement when you are bringing players in on a permanent basis and it goes through when the embargo is lifted :unsure:

I was listening to Talk Sport yesterday where Alvin Martin was discussing Steve Cotteril as having the worst job in football by managing Portsmouth and they said this is closely followed by the Southend manager's job!

It was all agreed before Saturday's game.

Both he and Simpson are joining on loan. Rene Howe was the only triallist.
