Chinese Restaurant!

Winkle

Manager
I love a ruby, where as the Mrs likes chinese food so we tend to alternate as much as possible between the two. However my local indian is a friendly warm place with great food and a relaxed atmosphere which is good because we often sit and chat for some time after finishing with no pressure to vacate your table. It cannot be the same for the number of Chinese restaurants we have visited lately as the service as been really poor, exstortinate alchohol prices and before the last chicken ball is in your gob, the table is cleaned packed away and they start hovering with the bill because they want to squeeze aother booking in. We went to one last week in brentwood were we had the same drinks two times during our meal and when the bill came it was two different prices. When I querid this she went off in a huff and said "All ok the bill is correct" The things is you had to pay for your drinks separate ( whats that all about) and when we ordered one more for the road she would not give us our drinks unless I paid for them first. It did make me feel uneasy when a big chef type person stood behind our table watching us finish our drinks. Needless to say , I wont be heading over that way again.
As any else had any similar experiences?

I have that trouble i put the last ball in her gob and she gives me the bill, she aint chinese though!! :D

Good Chinese: Great Wall rochford

Bad chinese: The one on festival in bas vegas

Great indian: Bekash wickford

Never had a good meal in there mate, last time we went there the place was filthy and the next day it closed for 2 days, cant say why.

Might be better now, but after 2 bad experiences i am reluctant to try

It opinion really, i dont rate you do, fair play

Fair Does mate

Has anyone tried EAST?

East is fantastic. The staff do hover to take your plate away though, gets irritating. Still, the food is fantastic and there is plenty to choose from.

I must admit - i went to pearl gardens in the west end, and after about an hour i was being rushed out..

It was all you could eat though. That could be why?

Only been to one Chinese in Southend near the bus station, and that was lovely. Can't remember the name though.

I agree with ShrimperCJ that Aroma over Bas Vegas is awful.

Champagne chinese restaurant in Wescliff near the KFC is great. It's £12 a head for all you can eat. Plus it's not a buffet, it all comes out fresh. Each time been with mate we have had the al you can eat and 3 bottles of wine between us and it was only £25 for the food and drink which I think is great. Plus no complaints about the service, they don't rush you and are all polite and friendly.

Excellent call regarding Great Wall & Bekash, both are favourites in the eyes of the Moe household

Have some green for that !
