Chin Up Guys

Look guys, were going through a very rough patch at the moment, but lets not get too downheartened. Last time we got relegated, we got relegated and then relegated again, so seriously, take a reality check people, did you seriously expect us to bounce straight back up again? With us losing eastwood at the start of the season, and not getting a decent replacement in, did anyone really expect us to be up the top making a massive impact on the league? No. I didn't think many of you do. I know most of you would have taken mid-table safety at this time in the season... but still theres people moaning and groaning about results this year. Yes, it's dissapointing; but it's not unexpected is it?

Yes - our defence isn't defending as well as possible, and yes most of our strikers can't shoot for toffee, but it's not like were rooted to the bottom of the championship, is it? We're mid-table of League One. We're creating chances most games and all we need is someone to poke them into the back of the net; and given time, I think MacDonald will be just the man do that. All he needs is for the boo-boys to get off his back and let him get on with it.

Confidence is low in the camp, and the only way for that to improve is for results to improve, but we can't moan about the position of the team. We've had some great results, and some 'not so' great performances, but if it was all happy-go-lappy why arn't we top of the prem with £50m to splash around. Poor performances and bad results are all part of the package, and being a fan of SUFC, you have to take it. I for one would prefer us to lose some matches than win every match. If I wanted to be a winner every match, I'd go and support a team like Manure or Chelski.

Tilly is still a NEW manager; he's only been in the managerial game for a few years now and is STILL LEARNING. How many of you could possibly do a better job than him? Seriously? Not many of you - and I can be assured of that. So what gives you the right to critise what is happening and why he's doing it? He knows, better than anyone else, how well the team works behind the season. He knows how the players are performing during training, what their attitude is like and how well their progressing. He's on a string-tight budget and people are moaning he can't bring in decent players. Could you bring in decent players on a string-tight budget? The people who he had brought in have all got different things they add to the game. Some have been good buys, others havn't been such great buys; but you can't have an amazing buy everytime? Let's go and buy wayne rooney and cristiano ronaldo. We can't go getting those players, because it's physically impossible. Even when the right player for the team comes along it's, just not OK to go and buy them just like that, because you dont want to go breaking the wage structure and making all the other players un happy. Lets see who he gets in during the transfer period, and see who leaves and then re-assess the situation after the transfer period. If nothing positive happens there, then maybe we have a reason to start worrying.

Lets not get on Tilly's back yet. We just need to let this season go past and make sure we stay in this league. I've always said, and will always say that the NEXT season will be the season to judge tilly and how well he's doing. We've just been relegated so we need to get our feet back on the floor and start building again for next season. Many of us at the start of the season would have taken mid-table safety, and I for one am happy where we are at the current time. Yes, we all want the team to perform the way we know they all can, whipping every team in the league, putting 20 goals in every match, each player covering 50,000 yards of the pitch, but it's not going to happen every match. Were going through a rought patch, but it's not the end of the world. Let's not start calling for Tilly's head yet.

Lets get behind the boys against Bristol Rovers on NYD!! Heres to 3 points and a more successful year next year!!

Great post. If and when the rep returns there'll be some green on the way.

Time for Tilson to resign, and someone else to breath new life into the team.

As shrimpled says:

In regards to the manager name me one manager that could take this club, being paid what we pay, forward on our budget. Name me one manager with as much success at this level as Tilson? Name me one manager who would continue to look to youth and have a long term plan for this club and not put our integrity and future in the balance? Name me a manager who cares as much for this club as he does?

It's all well and good saying bring in a new breathe of fresh air, but honestly, is there anyone that could possibly be better than Tilson at the current time? Without jeopordising the future of the club? We're improving drastically, we're on the verge of getting a new stadium, and once we get that; then we'll be able to challenge some of the bigger teams for players etc.

Remember guys, we are in debt and until it sorts itself out theres no way we'll be able to compete with wages that the better players want. Thats life. I'd rather take risks on lower league players that arn't going to make the financial situation worse, than players that just want cash. I'd rather have players from lower leagues, wanting to make the step-up into the big world than having the 'trim players' from other teams, which are obviously crap because they're not making other teams. Wouldn't you?

couldn't bare to come on here last night after going to yesterdays game. for me i couldn't believe what i was seeing. worst performance this season by far. we were showed how to play football as a team by donny. they ripped us to shreds. at one point even our own fans applauded the string of passes they put together. they were by far the best team we have faced this season so far.

our side of things. predictably were un-done from the start by hunt having a total shocking and leaving their right winger in about 7 miles of space for the whole game. lets goals in from crap marking.

going forward is also a huge worry. we are now finding out that leon doesn't like to move, jump or run. charlie was left to do all the work himself. CHARLIE MAC what a player he is, he may not be the most gifted in the world but does he work hard. the effort he showed yesterday set the standard the fans expect. you don't go travel and pay money to see a team full of players who don't want to work.

yesterdays game was screaming for subs to come on, no one was playing well so that is no excuse. amazing enough tilly gave the subs just over 15 minutes to make a mark. in my opinion i would have made at least 2 subs at half time. missed opertunitys again cost us yesterdays because we did have the odd chance but yet again no one seems to hit the target or even work the keeper. play-off place still possible but are we good enough?

Quite a few people couldn't bare coming on last night .. not many people were on at all yesterday. LOL!

:hilarious:
'Tis true, after a showing like that and a drive home that seemed forever in the pitch dark i could not face turning on the computer.
That's the thing about football,it's best to switch off at times!

the drive home did seem to take forever. stopped off after about an hour for a quick toilet break to see a car load of shrimpers had broken down there and were waiting for the rac.

The other thing is,with a long drive home after the game you tend to re-live the whole game in the car with your mate, more agony!!
That's why on your return you hardly feel like going ten rounds with TTK,J,Wiggy et al .

your right. and it drives you even more mad. but then again you could talk all day about how dire our defence was.
