Col U are still Enemy Number 1. However, as a business it is prudent to cut your cloth accordingly. If they saved a few grand and at the same time got their pathetic support snuggled into a couple of stands...then to be fair - that is good business. I expect them to open a couple of blocks only in the near future. Much cheaper and will accommodate the attendances they attract.

It seems that some of us try to make ourselves feel better about our own sorry state of financial affairs, by continually sniping at Col Ewe. I don't like it either but at least they are relatively stable, have their new ground and are in League 1. True, their gates are lower than us but then again it's a smaller town,
We are obviously potentially a bigger club, but until we are in a bit of a better situation maybe we should shut up.

Or maybe we should continue to barrage them with abuse because we are better and being Southend says it all

All things considered, I think my number One enemy do O.K. That Joe Dunne sounds a bundle of fun tho. He needs to lighten up. I remember him falling out with that Colchester games commentator, when they was on a bad run. He asked him a very fair question at the time, and Joe Dunne went mad, and stormed off. Now when they lose, that same commentator is treading on eggshells, Lol, and he says something like ''I hope you don't mind me asking you this Joe'' (In his best Hartlepool voice) before a tricky question.

This !!!!!!!

I wonder why we never play them in a pre season friendly, if it was at their home ground we would fill it for them i suspect, be a good bread winner for them , albeit the result may not please them.

Does any lower league club seriously budget for a cup run?

Or the chairman could budget/gamble for promotion to the championship for several seasons while in league 1 when he couldn't afford it. Then pull the plug on everything when all money run out and no one would let him borrow anymore almost guaranteeing certain relegation and blame everyone else except himself :whistling:

The last time we played there our end was half empty as well as the rest of the ground

I seem to remember we played them in a pre-season friendly, ooh, must be 10-11 years ago now (just checked 2003). I remember the Police chopper and Police Dogs at the end of the match despite only 1,955 people turning up.

Yep kicked off behind the east stand big time

Yeah although I think it being on a Monday night, Sky screening it live and the shocking weather probably didn't help. IIRC the crowd in the previous season's game was about 8-9,000, with plenty of 'undercover' Shrimpers helping the Ewes push up their home gate!
