Central Playmaker(midfielder)

What happens if Gutts/Maher has a slump of form or either gets suspended we will be very short in the middle of the park.I feel they are both in a comfort zone as they know they have no threat to there positions. The only one we have is Hunt(say no more)
Who would be on your wish list?

Andy Robinson

Isn't Smith 3rd Choice CM?

For my wishlist, erm Robinson, Scholes...and for my hopeful list...

O'Callaghan...can't think of anyone else

Looks a bit thin on the ground at CM, I agree. Funny that, when most of us said CM was our strength last season...

Obviously why Tilly is trying to bring in another midfielder...

Be awesome if we could still get either Robinson or O'Callaghan.

Another midfielder needs to come in to play a central role. Jay isn't a big enough challenge to Gutts or Maher at the moment to come in. I wasn't at the game today but many speak of Gutts being very poor. On these occasions we need somebody who can change the game and I don't think Jay will do that at the moment. Ron - you have been generous with the cash - give us one more signing - O'Callaghan or Robinson.

If Guttridge has a loss of form? don't make me laugh, he is in one. The bloke is a waste of space, has only given the ball away about 20 times in 2 matches, what are you all watching it's like playing with 10 men!

gutts was very poor against palace, i think he drifts in and out of games and now with our new full backs i think a lot of the play is going out wide, which means gutts has to push forward and support through the box for when the ball comes in (which with JCR is never)

also ive only seen the palace game this season, but is it me or is maher playing quite a bit further forward than he usually does. seems he wants to provide more further up and even pop up for shots on the edge of the box. against palace it ment barrett was breaking out to intercept balls behind him which i think its a dangerous game to play. i like us playing attacking football, but when we dont have much pace at the back i think maher has to sit really really deep to shield anything coming through the middle

Its just you, i've been every game this season and Maher is actually sitting deeper than last season, he's playing a holding role with Gutteridge getting further forward, Maher occasionaly will break forward like most good mdfielders but generally he sits just ahead of the back 4 this season.

He's back at Preston. Been on the bench a bit lately, I believe.

I don't see why he'd swap that for basically the same role here.

IMO a mistake to let Bentley go - we need someone to break up opposition play and put it about

I agree a combative midfielder would be an asset, but I think the class of player he would be up against in the CCC would just result in our Bents running around chasing shadows and adding rapidly to his red and yellow card collection.

I don't agree. Bentley has been going up leagues every season for the past half a dozen and taken each one in his stride. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't have been a real asset this season.
