Calamity Collis nearly costs us, here's some ratings!

wiggy

Darryl's Love Child
Collis 3 caught 2 dolly drops, stayed rooted to his line for 5 crosses and parried an easy shot straight to the forward, time to bring in Mr. Reliable!
Hunt 6 done ok, distribution not great
Hammel 6 good ball in for Barretts goal but once again poor distribution
Barrett 7 good defending and goal, had to go off injured
Clarke 6 defended ok but back to his poor distribution, was it the pitch?
Richards 6 hoof it merchant, bench is about his level
Macca 5 hardly noticed him, totally different to Wednesday
Bailey 6 better than Macca but still a bit subdued
Gower 7 good goal and need him to show his class for us to tick
Morgan 6 another a bit quiet but like what he adds
Clarke 7 strong as an ox, classy and we need to sign him
Macdonald 6 ran around, maybe get a better guide against Oxford
Maher 7 started dodgy but best of the midfielders

Ref 9 another one that let it flow, well done!

Darryl to start Tuesday ......

whose midfield is it ?

seemed kev was running the show and the Macca/Bailey quick legs axis was sidelined - Morgans got no bottle in front of goal -

Wow never expected that!

Collis was at fault for the goal and deserves no more than a 6 for it, however he was fairly solid afterwards if not tested much.

me @ 6.02pm on an earlier thread

As soon as Collis parried out that shot, I thought "oh well, Wiggys just knocked 7/8 points off his rating". I predict wiggy will give him 2/3.

:D

Yes, he was at fault for the first one and something he needs to work on, ie to push the ball away from the middle of the goal.

However, he kept confident and looked ok from there on. His confidence could have taken a knock but it wasnt as evident as I thought it might have been given the blunder and the chants.

instant response to the swindon goal from the west stand - a chorus of Darryl Fla-haven .

Yet go back 2 months and see how many here blamed our indifferent start on Flahavan.

Collis was a popular choice but I always felt Flahavan was made too much of a scapegoat.

Its a tricky one now, Im not overly impressed with Collis and dont think he is as commanding as people said he would be or that his extra height makes that much difference and we are still conceding the type of goals we did that Flahavan conceded.

However just changing keepers isnt going to result in us in keeping clean sheets and Im not sure changing back and forth is good for confidence in the defence.

collis still not at fault for as many a darryl was before he got dropped, in fact his first real error in truth, you are so predictable wiggy it is actually amusing

Well to be fair its not his first error, he flapped at that corner that we conceded earlier in the season (cant remember the game)* and the cross against Luton left a lot to be desired.

From what Ive seen whilst I always get nervous with high balls with Flahavan I think he has been more reliable of the two.

*Edit : Blackpool in the cup...

I heard that too. A pathetic response but what do you expect from children?

Don't agree with that, but like it or not Flavs apart from his aerial ability is without doubt the most competant, complete keeper in this league. Meanwhile we have a tall bloke in goal that has no confidence in the air and not in the same class in other departments, why?

Why are you asking me? Ask Tilson. Although given that we're two points off top spot I hope he tells you to go and run off a cliff.

I was gonna give him his usual 4 for not helping out the defence in the air but to put us on the back foot after a few minutes with a standard catch/parry away from goal lost him a point hence the 3. Looks a bag of nerves even after a good run, not a natural keeper in my opinion but decent enough back up!

I will always love Darryl but his form leading up to him being dropped was ropey to say the least and he prob deserved to be dropped(even just for a kick up the *** if nothing else) but collis has not really done anything to deserve being dropped(he could have done better with that shot today deff) and I believe he is better than darryl in the air. Im sure darryl will get his chance to get back the No.1 shirt back

Two point off the top because of a quality player called Clarke, not Collis!

LOl, quite an important area is aerial ability wiggy!!!! Yes Collis made a mistake for the goal but the conditions can't have helped, if Flavs had been in we'd have probably conceded from at least one of the 4 or 5 first half crosses that Collis confidently claimed anyway.

And just to pick you up on your "time to bring in Mr. Reliable" quote from the top of the page wiggy you can't HONESTLY call a keeper who is probably the worst aerially that we've had in a long, long time Mr. Reliable can you? Yes Flavs is an excellent keeper aerial abilty aside.....but with that flaw in his game he certainly can't be described as quoted.

Lol, you do yourself no favours Wiggy, sometimes you speak sense but then you spout something so ridiculous it kills and credibility.

Collis didnt look a bag of nerves today, even after the mistake.

If he isnt a natural keeper where do you suggest we play him, left back ?

Collis is a decent keeper, thats not in doubt for me, its whether he is a better option than Flavs.

Personally as I said above I thought Flahavan was made a scapegoat and Id prefer him but I dont think its as cut and dry as you make out and your views just come across as favouritism and totally biased....

I dont remember Collis claiming any more than one cross in the first half ?

Whilst Flavs is flawed with high balls Id say Collis has show he is too, just see the one against Luton....

To be honest i'm not that bothered about the mistake, more about how un commanding he is in the air. In your words Flavs is a great keeper, Collis is obviously an average keeper and no better aerially, who do you choose with these assumptions?

I guess Macca, Bailey and Gower havent scored then have they.....

Time to spread your love Wiggy....Macca and Bailey are quite short. Surely they could fight over your affections?

I bet you are spoilt for choice now Panto season is here....I be you would love to play Snow White - the choice of 7 migets....must be heaven...:p

Bad mistake by Collis but other than he did well. Don't think it's worthy of recalling Flavs yet.

My MoTM would be Leon Clarke, thought his physical presence caused the Swindon defence a lot of problems and he held the ball up superbly. Morgan alongside was good too and Gower had another lively game. CLarke and Barrett were solid at the back although Clarke's distribution was awful as ever.
