Bucket collection, 30th October

well perhaps he has got the money, and he's waiting to go right to the wire to gain a tiddly bit of interest on it?!

My point is that if Ron doesn't want any money at the moment, then so be it. Time will tell whether he's been smart, or whether he's made his own noose.... we'll just have to wait and see.

I have no problem with giving the Trust money, as long as it's clear that at this point in time it's just going to the trust, and not to the club.

Or waiting to pay it and do his annual lap of honour...........cause with our cup form so far dont look like he will get a big occasion this season.

will those collecting be issued with a permit/photo id to distinguish any fraudsters collecting and running off with the takings.

No they won't there's not time, the council have advised this is not necessary. It is hoped that collectors will be wearing appeal t-shirts and in the main, be known to us.

And Rich, I thought the revised statement went out saying Ron was now ok with us collecting and had given permission? I must admit I've not read the statements thoroughly this morning but that was what I'd heard last night. It may be that the statement went out without the bucket bit.

Yep, Ron said he wouldn't have a problem with the Trust appealing for donations

We all need to support the Trust. They obviously won't give the money to the club. I have no doubt that my money will be used wisely by them to try and ensure the survival of my football club. I trust them far more than the egotistical local business men who have taken our club to the brink.

The thought of actually having no club to support is shocking.

I will donate money to the trust, however - if this finds it's way to the club, and Ron Martin, you can **** right off.

Wow quite a bit of negativity concerning these collection buckets, i personally don't care if Ron (open book) Martin does come up with the cash in time, i am happy for my donations to go to the Trust, the way i see it they have always been positive and if they have funds to help save us now or in the future then i am happy. OBL and the rest of you well done, i am taking 3 young kids so am afraid i can't help out physically, but we will be donating and will do all we can to support the Trust and the club. The Trust statement says "All monies raised will be used to either invest in the club or loan funds to the Administration to pay key bills (e.g. players’ wages, ongoing VAT, Income tax and National Insurance bills, etc.). If the club do not enter Administration any funds gathered will be held in our fighting fund and used for the future benefit of Southend United."

Unfortunately the posters and the name of the campaign "Save our Southend" do not really make this clear.

The Trust, and collectors, need to make sure that the message gets across to those who are asked to donate - the donation is going to the Trust, NOT the Club.

Right - I stand corrected then.
I am happy for any cash to go to the trust (& do think that distinction will need making), I also didn't see the point of giving it to RM & GK to fritter anyway!

If RM and GK crawl onto the pitch and are on their knees begging for money I'll give you an extra fiver, tenner if they cry

I totally support this but any investment in the club has to come with real representation of the trust/supporters on the board so we don't get in a huge hole like this again and there is openness in the way the club is run

That is something the Trust have been trying to get the club to agree to. I wonder why, so far, it has been rejected.
