BT

I'd guess is whoever had the team beforehand bought loads of players and quite possibly went bankrupt*.

A big cull is definitely needed as otherwise they'll be wasting a lot of money on wages otherwise.

*Or had a lot of transfer activity involving the same team......

I thought that when you sign up you get a fresh set of players?

Blackout friendly tonight YB, be prepared to lose every line-out again :finger: :p

Do the players need to play games to benefit from the nets training or will they progress the same regardless of how often they play?

On a separate note I haven't paid much attention to form and i've just noticed a couple of bowlers with shocking form. What affects it and what can be done to remedy it. May as well ask the same for batsmen.

Hi again

There is an occasional issue with new teams getting 36 players instead of 18 so, yes, this can happen. To be fair though they all tend to be of a pretty average standard!

Regards

Julia

What a totally inept response. No point in her carrying on with a dross side of 32 players, she should get a proper squad like everyone else. Poor show BT.

I think there does tend to be loads of dross. A guy I work with joined last week, and he had 2 bowlers of any standard (1 Resp and 1 comp), everything else was Mediocre or less, also he had nobody to train. GNH's team yesterday was pretty much the same. So best option is to sack all the real dross, and get going in the TM !

I've seen teams start without a single player of competent or above. If her team is that bad she could leave it and start with another email address.

I only had one player above mediocre when I started but I didn't know any better (plus new players couldn't start till Season 2).

The good news is there should be lots of cheap trainees on the market.

I'd suggest buying 7 trainees, they should be pretty cheap. They should all be 17years old with at least mediocre stamina (stamina is really inefficient to train), I'd then suggest:

1 x mediocre batting and feeble wicketkeeping
2 x mediocre batting and mediocre concentration
1 x mediocre bowling and mediocre batting with as close to mediocre concentration and consistency as you can afford
3 x mediocre bowling and mediocre consistency

You should be able to buy a mediocre-mediocre for a couple of thousand, although the all-rounder will be more expensive.

When i get all these trainees i assume because there are only 10 nets available it is only worth training them in 1 net each in their primary and not combining with fielding for more secondary training?

The best split you can have is

2 bats on 1 batting net
1 bat on 1 batting / 1 wk
1 all rounder on 1 batting / 1 bowling / 1 fielding
3 bowlers on 1 bowling net.

If you can, try and get 1 bowling trainee each of F, FM, M and Spin. (Spin probably best for your all-rounder as it doesn't knacker them out as much as Fast or Fast-Medium)

If you buy Mediocre / Mediocre (Batting / Conc or Bowling / Cons) they will incraese at roughly the same rate, so no real need to employ the fielding net just to increase secondaries. Only use it on the all-rounder because it gives extra value, as it is training both conc and cons.

YB's method uses 9 primary nets so you'd probably just get a fitness net as well and rotate it round the bowling trainees. You'll probably find their first stamina pops will come within the usual 6 week period.

The theory is that with a single net, the secondaries pop at about the same rate as the primaries so you end up with balanced players. Players with fielding are handy but not essential, fielding net comes in handy for players who are deficient in their secondary.

Alternative is to forget the stamina net and give the all rounder the fielding net as you then double the efficiency by upping both concentration and consistency.

It's pretty standard advice now for Noobs. Just wish someone had been able to give us the same advice when we started :)

The 10th net was intended as a fielding net for the all-rounder - that way you get more bang for your buck by improving both consistency and concentration.

However concentration and consistency improve quicker the old the player is, so you could spend the first season improving your other trainees' stamina up a level, before switching it to fielding for the all-rounder.

G,

Look at my team (General Stars) ... i have about 5 players on the TM, all of which arent going to be sold, but there is a comp wickie that you might wanna train!

;)

Adrian Warner - 22 yo, BT Rating=7,463
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, respectable batting form, competent bowling form, fresh
An attacking player with respectable leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: strong Concentration: woeful
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: feeble

This is one of the chaps i put up for sale and he's currently got a high bid of £500k no him so well happy with that!

that was basically my situation when i started- one resp/woe batsman, one resp/feeb bowler, nothing else above comp (and not many of those).

What's peoples thoughts on investing in ITS in the academy, should i invest as much as i can afford or is it not worth it at this early stage

You may as well invest now that you have the cash from selling the strong guy. Only thing to bear in mind is it will cost you quite a lot to bring your academy up to scratch.
