It seems like team spirit is suddenly terrible , the togetherness of our squad is now lacking and we are playing as individuals. Normally when this happens the best thing to do is go away for a few days team building to somewhere like Dublin ......

....So our last excellent performance in a 2 month unbeaten league run was v Bury , next day all the players get lashed up in Dublin + since then we had the dross performance at Col Ewe ( papered over by the v lucky win ) + the Millwall + Donny debacles.

Bentley
White Thompson Prosser Coker
Worrall Leonard Timlin Mclaughlin
Hunt Payne.

I couldn't argue with this
Starting with a back line that's won many games in the past
Timlin looks like the odd one out because of injury
Might go with Mooney and drop Payne back into a 4-3-3
Can see us getting something from this game

If Paul smith played like Bentley he would have been crucified in the last two games.

Couldn't be more true and this is what I find frustrating about SZ. Certainly players become almost beyond criticism, whereas others will always attract it no matter how good they are.

Ted in and Dan out for a couple of games would be good for both of them. Dan will come back with a point to prove and Ted will get to test himself and see how far away he is.

I'm afraid this isn't just an SZ thing. I think you will find all football fans and their forums are the same. Football fans are the most fickle going.

Seriously though, we've seen Brown deal with poor performances badly previously in his career - I'm a big believer that dirty laundry should be done behind closed doors. Not sure that saying things that give rise to silly headlines like that is really in anyone's interests.

Brown puts it on the players despite everyone knowing that his team selection was to blame and then rather than accept some responsibility, he threatens to drop 10.
He appears to be panicking more than some of us on this site.
He has form for getting things wrong, recall him sitting players on pitch at halftime like little schoolboys.
Perhaps it is time he shows some humility, oh and finally let us know what Horton does at Southend!

Every player needs to be told what level of performance is/is not acceptable, Bentley is no different (even if the reality is brown has no intention of dropping them and hopes that whatever he does this week does the trick and on Saturday we start playing again)

I personally feel that just makes Brown look silly, rather than having any influence on the result on Saturday. He does it so often so the players can now call his bluff.

Ted is not ready yet. We need our best team out on Saturday. This isn't being rose tinted but I think starting Ted would be a big gamble at this important stage of the season.

I honestly think Phil worries too much about the opposition,fair enough if we playing against world class guys but the truth is we are playing league 1 standard,true some of the opposition have good players but so do we,utilise our guys better and results will follow.

Whilst I agree, I also think this comes from the players. Brown made quite a fuss over the fact that some of the players weren't believing in themselves at the start of the season, and IMO that naturally put us on the back foot in games. As the season has gone on, we've seen players gather some consistency in their performances. White had a poor opening 3/4 games but has been one of our most consistent performers since (don't quite get why people want O'Neil ahead of him). Worrall similar, Lenny similar, even Hurst looked to be gathering some pace after a run of games.

This is not one thing or the other. It's a combination of factors. I criticised Brown for seemingly accepting no blame but the players are at fault too.

PB, for me, has got things very wrong on a number for occasions. The players though are professionals. Allegedly. Even when tactics or formation/ instructions do not suit, the players should at least look competent but in recent games, despite effort, they look totally inept.

Furthermore, even worse, PB's body language, witnessed by many, has looked resigned and defeatist. If he cannot appeared motivated himself then what chance has he with the team?
