Manager⭐
When asked about the Bolton job he replied along these lines:

I've been at Southend for three years now.

I got them promoted which I was asked to do.

I hoped to get promotion this season but it seems to have slipped away.

We have a big game on Wednesday.

We'll see what happens at the end of the season.

All PB needed to say if he is staying was 'I am fully committed to Southend and I am not interested in any other job and will be staying'. He didn't.....

Like many of us I'm sure, I just want the whole saga over with now so we can move on... Watched Mark Noble's testimonial on the box yesterday and Chris Powell played a part. Seems a real character & would certainly welcome him in charge next year if the inevitable does happen.

Sounds as if he will be off unless we get promoted which is of course unlikely. He will then have two options, either join a bigger club which may have a bigger budget than us or stay with another Division One club that will have probably sold it's best players and needs rebuilding. He will probably feel that Bolton will have more chance of success in this division than us.

If I was RM I'd sit PB down and just ask him to be honest and say now if he's planning to go to Bolton. I think 99% of us think the his answer would be yes. RM then contacts Holdsworth and thrashes out compensation. They obviously want him and I'm sure would take him now. So why string this out? I can't see how anyone in this equation benefits from the current situation. Our form is slipping (we've been here before havent we, Webby, Fry..), both us and Bolton would benefit from having our new managers in place before the end of the season for planning purposes etc, the players know who they've got to impress, and so on. Just let the man go if thats what he wants, its dragging us down.

He will be as honest as RM is to supporters re F.Farm
Also you seem to forget RM dragged the team down with his handling of Paul Sturrock and the way he handled the whole two managers at Wembley scenerio

Dont blame PB one little bit, just in case the ink is not dry at Bolton

Totally agree. PB is keeping his options open but also not disrespecting anyone. It's about employment for him, not love for SUFC or any other club.

Who hands in their notice in on the hope they might get a job which they applied for?

Ps Ron's worse was when he screwed over Tilly, Brush and the team then.

Could also be that Bolton are keeping their options open , so you can't really blame Brown for being non-committal.
They have appointed a caretaker until the end of the season and it could be that better options present themselves to them if they wait.
I'm sure 'unofficially' they've hinted to Brown that he is one of their preferred options and I'm equally sure that he would jump at the chance.
But the 'Managerial Merry-go'round' ( love that phrase ) can move quickly with people being pushed out from one post and starting a chain reaction.
Also , whilst we have a slim chance of the playoffs , and with Bolton almost certainly down , why would he jump now ?
I think all parties ( Brown , Ron , Bolton ) are doing and saying the right things at this moment in time.
Employers and Employees ( and not just in Football ) should try to do the best for themselves and their organisation.
I am happy ( ish ) in my job and have been here for 25 years , but if someone offered me a very big increase in salary ( which I'm sure Bolton will be ) and a move back to my home town , then for the sake of my family if nothing else , I would be foolish not to give it some serious thought.
Despite the growing Anti-Brown noises , he got us promotion last year and we've been above mid table for most of this , so I think he's done an excellent job in terms of results ( substance over style maybe ) , but if we start to fall away next badly next season and are fighting relegation by Christmas , be under no illusion he will be out of a job.
Most Managers get 2-3 years in one place , so by that reckoning he is on borrowed time unless we really over perform.
On that premise alone , a move to Bolton or somewhere else buys the man a couple more years I think.

I think he will go , but really don't blame him at all.
For us we move on , we always do.

We are suffering relegation form now, never mind next Christmas!......

Are they after you now?

Well , just putting my name out there........
Had a few good seasons running U 10's / U 11's and feel ready for the step up.
Bet none of the pro teams lose players on the day of a game because they've got to visit their Nans !

See, these top managers all complain about the pressure they're under, but they haven't a clue.

I'm sure they will.
