Ive got a feeling we may lose Leonard as a result of this signing , in order to bank roll these signings surely we will have to trim the squad right up , the fact Brown is looking for another CM makes me even more worried that we could see Lenny go .

I don't think it points to Lenny leaving at all. The only other CM's we have are Timlin and Wordsworth and both of them don't have the greatest track records with injuries. Although in fairness since coming here AW's fitness on the whole has been pretty good

Actually the precise opposite- PB/RM will believe they almost has the squad to do the job and no way will they risk that by letting go an irreplaceable defensive midfielder. Its telling the only MF we are talking to a attacking MF and playmakers.

Also Lenny now far more likely to be OK with staying given who we have brought in. I think there is near zero chance of PB/RM undoing some of the good work and letting him go. Happily.

Like the look of that. Another centre back just to balance it out.

White can play there and Brown has already said Hendrie is capable there - plus we have Matzuka to bring on this season.

Maybe just take a loanee as and when because in hindsight, yea 2 specialist CBs in their 30s isnt great.

So in summary... what you said!

I read an article last year when the Burton owner was talking about the jump in income and he was talking about 6 million.

Trousering £6m for himself, the cheeky sod.

I heard £12m in reference to Millwall's recent promotion; I guess the massive new Premier League TV deal means even more for Championship (and L1 and L2) sides too.

He's improving and getting stronger, but I would say he will be ready the season after next.

I bet our odds with the bookies are starting to reduce as well.

Never. I don't think bookies even bother looking at who we sign. We could sign Messi and Ronaldo and they'd still just think 'Southend? relegation' but hey, could make us an attractive punt..:winking:

I'm sure I read it recently. Having looked it's more like 7 million but with 100k for every appearance on sky.

It does make you wonder how clubs can afford to shell out 15 million on a player

Parachute payments. But also alot clubs get big crowds in the Championship.

Yeah Premiership relegated teams will be getting far more than the others.

Now I was thinking that was to allow them to safely honour contracts of players signed in the premiership, not for the likes of Villa to be spending Premiership money on new players.

Modern football

Not always, Mansfield a very unfashionable club have signed some good players and are priced at 6/5 to win league 2. Personally I think the Blues @ 4/5 to finish top half is the bet for me.

The bookies mainly base their prices on what punters are doing, if no one is betting on us they may as well offer a high price since they won't lose much if we do win the league and if we don't then that's extra money for them to counteract the big payouts on one of the favourites winning. Bookies don't really care about what our actual chances are, they only care about what the average guy on the street thinks our odds are.
