If we by any chance get promoted, We obviously wont be playing them (unless in the cup) so, if this was the case, I would dearly love it if Col Utd got relegated.
However should we not get promoted, I also hope they dont get relegated, the posibility of playing the Essex derby again twice & beating within an inch of their next season would be a hightlight of the fixture list. As DanburyShrimper said, I would rather travel away to Colchester, then some long trip to a boring northern town in the middle of knowhere.

Surely he must have taken into account that being such a pain in tha arse to get to that some "fickle" souls wouldn't bother, and that as soon as results don't go your way more would join the exodus.

We were desperate for a new stadium, Layer Road was going to need at least £1 million spent on it to make it safe and our search for a new stadium was about as succesfull as yours on our own. The council stepped in and offered the land and much of the funding for the stadium so really he almost had no choice. I don't think the crowds would have been any better in a more central situation in the town the only way we will fill the ground on a regular basis is if we get promoted to the Championship (Unlikely!) There are lots of changes around there now with many more to come in the next few years, it will no longer stand on it's own surrounded by fields so with other attractions maybe just maybe things will improve!

The optimum must be a repeat of our last Championship exploits when we both got promoted together, I bet you could get good odds on that at present!!
