Just another reason why this government is heading for the mother of all trouncings at the next election. I'm with Dave and others on this one. I pay for the broadband I use because I want it. I don't expect help from anyone towards the installation or upkeep of my line. When I upgraded from 2 to 8meg a while ago I paid for it, it was my choice so I had to stump up the cash to do it.
As for the 'notspots' dotted throughout the country. It's because of this governments lack of investment and short sightedness, coupled together with the total monopoly that BT have enjoyed with their exchanges over the last decade, that these 'notspots' exist. If you happen to live in a rural blackspot with no broadband then take your argument up with the government and the line suppliers. You want it that badly then pay for it yourself like we've all had to.
If your one of these rural businesses that depends on a fast broadband connection but now find you haven't got one then tough sh!t. Should of thought of that before you located your business where it is. That's life, pay up, and stop expecting some kind of financial help with your business costs.
On a slight tangent but sort of on topic. Are the likes of me, who needs a new high gain arial in order to get the full digital package, going to get some kind of financial help when the Analogue signal is switched off? NO is the answer and likewise those who cannot at present get fast internet shouldn't get a penny from me to help then get it.
Fekkin worlds gone mad I tell ya :|
