Question Bridgey and Mark Gower similarities…

Both have that maverick element in their play, floating around as the creative maestro, Gower was more of a ball player that Bridge for me, whereas Bridge, whilst Gower was good at it, has the edge on beating a man.

Bridge has certainly made me eat humble pie from when we initially signed him for the second time. He is a good player that's for sure but he isn't in Marks league, not even close.

Despite his love of a **** out of a tackle nature Gower was always championship class, id not rate Bridge at that level

I’m too young to have seen Stan, but Mark Gower, Kevin Maher and Barry Corr are my favourite ever Shrimpers.

And I really do love this current crop too. Bridge is a fantastic player at this level but Mark Gower is arguably the best player I have seen play for us.

I'm wary of sounding patronising in my mind 40s - but there is no comparison between the two players. Gower was simply one of the best players to play at the club - his touch, vision and ability to influence games from nowhere was quite brilliant. Some blitzing strikes against more organised and better quality teams. He played at a higher standard and that was because he had great quality.

That is no dig at Bridge who I think currently is one of our most exciting players - but Gower is an absolute great at the club.

There is an argument that Bridge is more consistent at performing at his best in games - but unfair to try and compare him to Gower. If you aren't old enough to have seen Gower in his pomp then I sympathise - great days.

If I recall correctly gower was injured in his last season with us. And potentially the same ne before.People thought he was lazy for not tracking back and not tackling but in fact he was instructed not to do it as he wouldn’t last the match.

If sure someone with better knowledge can add to the above

Was this thread set up to directly compare Gower and Bridge in terms of ability or style? Not sure I see it stylistically and definitely not in terms of ability. That’s not a dig at Bridge but it’s an almost impossible comparison. Like comparing Collin to Flavs or Cardwell with Angel.
