Bradbury

What Bradbury does, he does very well. As has been stated, with his back to goal, holding the ball up and laying it off, he's great. He is limited as a Championship centre forward, no doubt, but he's also a clever enough footballer to know his limitations and not try too much else.

It's difficult to criticise someone who works so hard for the team but I think what frustrates people (and I think we'd probably all have to agree) is he's just not good enough to penetrate defences at Championship level or above.

Our defence has improved dramatically in the last few games. What we need to do now is score some goals.

Bradbury contributes to the fact we look more solid of course.

Harrold and Paynter never held the ball up meaning it went flying back towards our defence more ofthen than it does now.

To be honest with Bradbury, McCormack and Sodje in the team the whole side looks far more capable of winning the ball and retaining it now and thats a decent spine to build the team around.

Now if Bradbury could start chipping in with a goal or two things would be looking even more promising.

True, I agree totally.

But in answer to the topic's question, I think Bradbury probably gets an unnecessarily hard time because of supporters frustration. After all, it's a shame if you're picking a centre forward for defensive reasons rather than attacking isn't it?

But, as I said previously, he was shot shy like that when he came to us last year.  There's got to be a time when, without Spinner, as our senior pro he's got to step upto the plate & make a centre forward's contribution and that simplistically for me is goals.  I think we agree on that.

By all means let him play lovely lay off football like last night, but then be we'll have to be happy with relegation as we don't have two 15 goal a season midfielders.  The big difference between him & the Goat was that despite ageing legs & creaking bones, and lets not forget there were w&nkers on here who laid into him regularly, Lord Leonard of Bermuda always tried to do what he was good at i.e. getting the ball in the net.  The assists etc came as a result but Shaun's career was made on goals not passes.  Bradders, as supposedly a centre forward, seem to have lost that notion.
I think you need to look at the team as a whole. I suspect that we'll score more goals with Bradbury in the team than we will without him so on that basis its worth keeping him in even if he doesn't get many goals himself.

they see he does not have sheer pace and clinical finishing.

he got to the ball a lot ahead of their defenders last night, held it up superbly and distributed it very well into the channels.
crosses. considering our attacks were coming from the wings
i felt last night we were lacking that presence in the box for and crosses in there was no one in there remotely near to the height of their centre backs and i for one was hoping harrold would get half hour with the tactics we were using.
Personally i believe Matt Harrod would'nt have got a look in against their more experienced defence, added to the fact that he was cup-tied.

He's the best partner for Freddy but it'd be nice if he could contribute some goals too. He is a striker, after all....
Bang on! That sums him up perfectly. Last night he had Robinson on the wrong foot and all he had to do was hit it. Why oh why didn't he just hit it? What was he thinking when he crossed it to fresh air? Sorry, but he needs to start taking a few shots or seriously reconsider his playing position.
