It's almost as though we have given up on a push for the play-offs.

By shipping out a player we don't want to play?

If we start shipping out starting players that might have some substance.

Bolger isnt being picked and by sounds of it has made demands and we have decided to loan him out and get someone else in his place.

Surprised at that decision! . Young lad who rarely put a foot wrong, defensively.

Not sure where PB gets his stats from, about Barrett & Thompson playing together.

Barrett & Bolger kept 8 clean sheets on the trot last season.

Ps, I'm a Bolger fan, so might be a bit biased.

Pps, Bit rich coming from a manager who has been chatting to another club behind the scenes!*

*source : 99% nailed on!

I think he's our second best defender, behind Barrett. That said, for me we have had quantity over quality in this position for league 1 standards, so we can improve with the right player coming in

I like Cian and you can't blame any player for demanding they want to play. Specially at his age. Can't say Thompson and Barrett isn't our best partnership though. Both streets ahead of Bolger imo. They both do their jobs better then him, Barrett does the dirty defending work, and Thompson can play the ball out of the back. If he hasn't got the squad spirit then shipping him out isn't such a bad thing. Even those playing need to be behind the 11 on the pitch in the run in, and if someone causing problems then get them out.

I have been a Bolger fan but there have been errors creeping into his game since the start of the year. Rightly dropped for the Barnsley game and now an opportunity to eradicate the errors at Bury's expense points wise. Hope he returns rejuvenated.

It would be nice to hear Bolger's version of events rather than just rely on PB's. Another player who has fallen out with him. A little unprofessional of PB stating publicly that he is questioning Bolger's attitude.

I tweeted Bolger earlier, told him to be patient and come back at the end of the season at which time PB would hopefully of buggered off to Bolton. Agree with an earlier post, very poor of PB to publicly slate Bolger and question his attitude. Hardly like the lad didn't want to play, clearly the complete opposite.

I heard the reason stemmed from him being hit by the Col U fans.
Phil rightly thought that Bolger should have got a few digs in back and that the attitude he showed was cowardly in the extreme.
Phil said that Deegan would never have let him down if it were him.
Phil was last heard shouting "Get out of our club you big Jessie !"

I can only think that maybe a new CB will be coming in - John White can play there in an emergency, but other than that we're down to the kids. Did think it was odd that he wasn't even on the bench last weekend, maybe he and Brown have had words about him being dropped.

Bolger was at the game and in his track suit and walked off at the end pass the away fans. Perhaps that is the last we shall see of him in a Southend kit. Shame that.

Or perhaps he will be back come July when the new manager wants him as the central stone of his defence.

As for Thompson, I think he is getting better with the more experience. He is really quite physical off the ball - pushing away opposition players and blocking off their runs by standing in their way. :thumbsup:In that respect he reminds me a little of Peter Clarke (but without the shirt holding in the penalty box). :'(
