Blues to extend Ranger's deal until the end of the season

For clarity Ranger was never on a monthly contract.

He signed a contract for an initial 1 month with the option for us to trigger a 1 year extension with the further option of a second year. The contract also includes the ability for us to terminate under various circumstances.

So no need for a monthly contract, a pay as you play contract or any of the other types of contract that might get a mention. To the point made with his head screwed on it was important that he could not use us to get fit, show he is a reformed character and the go and play somewhere else. Fit, sorted and banging them in he is a valuable asset.

I suspect with Sokolik we have an option after 5 months but don't need all sorts of other clauses to terminate like we enjoy with Ranger (and probably wouldn't get them).

In fairness, it would't surprise me if there was only one person on here that thought he was on a monthly contract

There is no doubt that if Ranger gets his body and head fit then we have a Premier class forward on our hands. I'm inclined to see this develop a bit more yet.

Why is there no doubt? No such thing as a certainty with players who have been out of the game. He could be a Stan Collymore, or he could be a Michael Ricketts....though I suspect he'll fall somewhere inbetween

your having a laugh is it april fools day this clown waste of a contract:hilarious:

Hey, Mark.....

Just a quiet word in "your shell-like"... have you ever considered teaming up with Tangled Up In Blue in the politics thread!?!? I think, together, the both of you could both brew up a real storm of negativity throughout the entire forum!!

That clearly seems to be the case of your recent post's.

So, please tell us all something positive that you feel about the team, in the up coming season?

Yep, Stan Ricketts has got a certain ring to it. All though it does sound more like a northern comedian than a footballer.

I've added a bit to my post! I agree that there is no such thing as a certainty in football, but if he achieves the two things I originally mentioned then he would be classed as a premier class player given his talent and ability. Whether he wants to do that is another matter.

IF we'd had SZ back in the day, a large number of you would have moaned about the ex-con we signed called Ricky Otto. Or the troublesome forward from Palace called Stan Collymore. Jeezuz, we even signed someone who lived in a caravan.

Nile Ranger, POTENTIALLY, could be the difference between us and everyone else. Yeah, the key word is potential.

I'd rather take the gamble he pays off, than not. A partnership between him and Cox has the ability to be the best in this division. But it's all potentially and hopefully. But its better than there being no potential or, worse, no hope.

Great comment. I expect he will do really well this season. Still think we are one striker short , but lets see how it pans out.

Must admit, I was surprised it was as long a contract as it is, I expected something similar to Sokolik. Can we please get him settled somewhere to live, preferably with a nice, vigilant landlady to make sure he sticks to curfew times to make sure he behaves, lol?! :winking:

'if the player had come through what I witnessed then I would have brought him in,” said Brown.

Does this mean that he didn't
come through what PB witnessed
?

Injured? Replaced? Not picked? Not good enough?

Yes, I mentioned this earlier. I had to think about it a bit because it didn't seem very clear. This is presumably the match PB saw on Friday night...........the only one I picked up, involving a Premiership club was Reading v Bournemouth. In the end I don't suppose it's worth breaking our heads over a possible deal which never came to fruition.............but interesting nevertheless ( for those with investigative minds!

We could do , but first we would have to travel back in time to 1975!

Im pretty sure he can find his own flat
