Breaking News Blues complete Spencer Signing

Whoo hoo! A signing! First one since.......JFC?

Lets hope if he doesn't score a hatrick in his first game the Roots Hall massive don't get on his back....

Get in there, a signing at long last. I forget what one was!!

All reports indicate that Scott could be a good player. Get him up front with Barnard now!!!-- shame I will miss his first run out against Huddersfield.

Welcome to the Blues Scott

I think this deal is sponsored by Sainsbury's, as Tilly is quoted as saying he has a good appetite and is hungry. ;) Umless the pizza man knows something we don't.

Good news. Think he will be a regular sub rather than a starter for the time being. Let's hope he grabs his opportunities and bangs some goals in. Christ we need them, especially if Barney does go through the exit door.

Welcome Scott and play up son, play up.

I've never been able to understand the need for SEVEN subs, apart from keeping mums and dads happy!

It's to try and bring about the collapse of a football club quicker. A bigger match day squad means a bigger squad means more wages. The big clubs are in favour because it allows them to keep more players happy and everyone else tries to kid themselves they can compete with the big clubs. Utter madness.

I've no issue with the bargain basement nature of this signing.

I'm all in favour of getting young hungry players with a point to prove. Most of our best players have been those sorts of signings. Personally though, if I was in Tilly's shoes I'd be spending a bit more time at non-league games than Premier$hite reserve games. Look for players on the way up, not those who need to drop down a level.

Will be intresting to see if does start against Huddersfield or if Revell does,

Its until the end of season so if he does flop we can always release him..

Welcome to Southend Spencer.

Delighted to finally make a permenant signing at long last.

I think the deal suits everyone really. Worst case is he is a massive flop and we release him come the summer time. Best case is he hits the ground running, we take up the option of the extra year on his deal and he continues to do well.

He will have a point to prove as his career has nose dived, but fingers crossed Tilly and Brush can get the best out of him.

Yeah its ridiculous!

Something I've mentioned before.

Our success in League Two and One was based on hungry, young, local players looking to make a name for themselves. This changed when we got to the Championship. Expectations changed, and our transfer policy had. Rather than bringing in Hammell for example, imagine the uproar on here if we had signed a left back from Grays/Barnet/Daggers etc.

As Daggers have proved throughout the years, and Peterborough as well, there is talent in the lower leagues, and outside the football league.

Welcome to the 'Cynical Old Farts Club', YB!

At least with this signing that the guy has some sort of pedigree. As we have seen just ourselves at Southend or more to the point away from Southend talent and performances arrive at all different ages shapes and sizes. If the lad can get some focus and have some targets provided for him by the club (a barn door would be a good start) then I am sure we could have potentially a potent player on our hands.

Southend is not the most glamourous of clubs around to join particularly being on the doorstep of so many teams from the capital. I agree with Scott and Tilly that this is a win win situation. He should (key word) be on low wages and hopefully a performances/appearance related pay. He should be encouraged with the camaraderie (good team spirit) amongst the club be able to settle in fairly quickly and find his feet.

Question is....

What Karaoke song will he sing on the first away game?
