SOUTHEND United chairman Justin Rees was among the goalscorers during a match to raise funds for a mental health charity.

Rees lined up for Garons FC and opened the scoring in their clash against Run Free United at Garon Park.

And Run Free co-founder Chris Phillips was pleased to have put on the game.

“It was an enjoyable game and a fun way to raise funds for such a good cause,” said Chris.

“It was great that Justin was willing to come along and play.

“I know he’s done it a few times now and it’s really good that he’s getting involved in the community in such a big way too.

“He played well actually, getting the opening goal but the main thing was raising the money for charity.”

The game generated close to £250 for the Mind of Student charity who hold workshops and give youngsters the confidence to speak about their mental health.”

The match was sponsored by Magnify PR.
