Breaking News Blair extends deal

palexander

Life President
According to CP on Twitter, Blair has signed another deal. Seems odd considering the signings of Benyon and hopefully Sampson?...

Well, appreciate 'odd' doesnt really apply as its the managers son, but take that out of it, then we are way top heavy on strikers now. Wonder if Corr is going to retire soon?

i think its more of a squad thing, he wont be expensive and is an ok option to bring on if required

Sampson, Harris, Benyon, Dickinson, Blair, Corr, Crawford, Asante. Someone is clearly on their way!

Crawford and Asante will be loaned out. I fear Corr will announce his retirement at the end of the season.

Crawford is injured I believe. Asante should be loaned out to be brought back in, hopefully.
5 fit strikers is a good number in my opinion! Especially as Blair wont cost too much.
Two injuries and then we are back to three again.
Especially as Dicko has his feet screwed on the wrong way!

Crawford and Asante will be loaned out to BSP/BSS teams. Corr will probably either announce retirement or be asked to sign a smaller deal to cut back. Sampson is only here for a short while so when he goes back we'll be left with;

Benyon, Dickinson, Harris, Sturrock.

It was fairly obvious Blair had signed a new deal before now as he was on the bench for the Port Vale game.

Nice of the club to let us know.

I'm disappointed but it's not unexpected. I think we should stop calling Blair a striker though. Whatever he can bring to the team, and I still haven't worked it out, he is not a striker. With the players we have signed I can't see when he will/should get a game. IMO of course!

I was under the impression that Blair was on a month by month contract anyway, may well be wrong but that's what i thought was said at the beginning of the season.

Could be Harris last season as well. If we go up i cant realy see him getting mudh of a look in in div 1. That being said what we would do about another 2 years of his contract i dont no, Only imo of course.

Only if other clubs want them, and there doesn't appear to be a host of clubs falling over themselves to sign them up. It's well and good saying offload them, but to whom.

IMO the club have to bite the bullet and pay some of the fringe players off, or keep paying them until the end of the season and release those that are out of contract.

Agree, whos going to take Asante and Crawford on? Isnt Harry injured anyway? 3 goals between them in a Southend shirt, Patos record isnt much better. He couldnt even score goals in Scottish Division 1!
Woodyard, Stevens, Nesbitt, etc. Cant see them ever pulling on a Southend shirt, espeically if we get prmoted. Will be a huge clearout in the summer.

It all takes some thnking about ........... options aplenty - and I suspect Sturrock has either made his mind up already about 1 or 2 players futures ......... we shall see.

........... and I agree that Blair Sturrock should perhaps not be considered as a "striker" any more given his main role seems to be to chase down the ball, hold up the ball and generally mill around ........

I can't believe the amount of stick this guy gets for no other reason than his Dad is manager... :raspberry:He has hardly put a foot wrong since he has been here and by the sound of things, he has been more than serviceable in the limmited game time this season... With an attitude like his, I'd be happy to have a few more like him... a player who give a 100% desipte the continuous abuse... Well done Blair glad your still with us:Worthy:

Absolutely, Southend4eva - I have seen Blair Sturrock play very well (last season for instance away at Hereford, Rotherham and Burton) - and he gives 100%. Fabulous ........... except his job description will say somewhere near the top of the page "from an onside position put the ball in the opposition net reguarly" .......... :winking:

'Say boom boom boom let me hear you say blair blair!! Dashman will dancing in the streets tonight lol'

You sir, lol, are a very bad man Steve!!!

Southend's Jedi, Southend's Jedi wo-oh, wo-oh!!!! A very good option to come and shut out game when we need to keep possession! Also good for an option if we have unfit players!!!!
