Tyson was a better boxer, Ali the better showman.

A prime Tyson beats a prime Ali all day long. Doesn't mean I don't have respect for Ali he is one of the greatest but I'm a Tyson fan.

i'm not a boxing fan but even i know that's ridiculous.

I'm not an expert either, but everyone I know who knows their boxing says Tyson in his prime beats anyone. He was a force of nature that could destroy anything in his path. No question Ali was the better person.

I'm allowed to disagree, as do these experts. Tyson would try and KO in early rounds, Ali would let him and win over time as Tyson falters.

If you're not a boxing fan then how can you say that is ridiculous?

I've watched pretty much every one of Tyson and Ali's fights thanks to the powers of YouTube. You've supplied two articles with no one of any stature in the boxing world stating Ali would win. If you supplied me with people like Gareth A Davies saying Ali would win then I would be impressed but still disagree.

It's one of those arguments that does come up and divides opinion. But not so clear cut to suggest that my post is a ridiculous one!

Ali was a great showman and a lot of the most respected and knowledgeable people in boxing say that Ali was not the greatest of all time. As a boxer he was a real showman, he had speed but he wasn't a hard hitter. Someone as powerful as Tyson if he got one punch to his chin would have him on his arse. He was a powerful puncher and was brutally skillful.

I'm not saying that I'm right and what I say is gospel but to suggest what I said is ridiculous is ridiculous in itself.

maybe ridiculous is the wrong word.

ps how about Graham Houston's opinion.

A better article than the other but still don't agree. You will have people who are in the Ali camp and are biased. Tyson wouldn't have so many due to his misdemeanours. The fact of the matter is no one can say who would win because it never did and never will happen. It's all down to personal preference. I am a huge fan of both. Both were exciting fighters and great champions. They are both in my top 5 greatest fighters of all time. But I'm in the Tyson camp on this one, then again I'm in the camp that a prime Tyson beats everyone!

I don't know if GBJ or Blue_wes will agree but if Sonny Liston wasn't under the control of the mafia he would've beaten Ali both times.
